Scientology is a shocking cult. Yet, I have a hard time arguing that they should lose tax-exempt status when Christian churches do not. Christian theology only seems less bizarre because of it's familiarity, and the abuses committed by the churches make the Sea Org look like amateurs.
Ah, but Scientology has tax breaks no other "religion" in the US enjoys. They are favored over any other church, which violates the Establishment Clause. Google "Sklar vs IRS" and "Establishment Clause Scientology."
I Absolutely agree with Fogslifted regarding focusing on the child abuse that goes on in there. If the media started painting the true picture of what these kids are going through even TC himself wouldnt want to be associated with an organization that is and always has been abusive towards children.
I would really like to see Nightline do a follow-up program on the child abuse that takes place. Lack of schooling and long hours of labor at very young ages. Being kept away from parents, or disconnect as they call it. I think if the child abuse was more reported on people would start looking into it more. That could be this cults down fall. Child abuse is no joke. And although it's members go through their own hell, abuse towards children I think would finally bring it down quicker.

Well they couldn't keep Charlie, so they failed big time in my view being able to claim that. We all know what Charlie went on to achieve. 9 life sentences for murdering 9 innocent people. This was after his introduction to Scientology. I'd say they aren't Athorities on anything other than maybe being good at conning people out of their money with a smile.
