I have been using a Olympus E410 with same lens that this comes with, and invested in a 70-300. If you want to see the results of photo's that I have taken go to my you tube and view my Tia Festival photo montage, there pretty impressive for old model. I actually bought a Canon D60 and yes it's faster, but the lens are not as good, and quality of pictures. So I bought this one, and the results are even better then the E410! These lens are very good, so make sure you get the kit.
@fikri1996 at the price now you could get Nikon 7000. I still prefer the Olympus as there lens produce excellent photo quality. It's also about the lens, not just the camera. So do your reviews on lens too
i think about buying it, in a kit of two lenses and the battery grip.
the idea is to use it as a lightweight smallsize second/backup cam to my EOS 50D.
why i not what a 1000d or a 550d? well, i think there are some intressing lenses by zuiko that enrich my gear and it can remote wireless flashes (less equitment to carry)
can u imagine that it is a good camera for a nearly (semi)professional photographer, as an addition to an heavy big eos 50d?
Is it possible to apply art filters and monotone picture mode at the same time, thus for example; taking a picture that applies both the soft filter and sepia monotone pricture mode.
would you recommend the olympus E620 or the Canon 550d? I prefer to take portaits and low light scenes... and i prefer the to have video reccording. However, i am REALLY BIG on the art filters. I love the b&w feature and effects of cross processing. I was wondering I you can do some retouching IN-CAMERA in the canon? Or can you only do it in post-production? cheers.
i'm not working as professional photographer, as in i just use camera for fun, do you think it's necessary for me to take the double lense kit or isit ok for me to just take the single lense? thanks...
@arianakudouchan If you have use for the telephotp lens - eg if you're interested in sport, wildlife, candids, travel etc then buying it as a twin lens kit would be cheaper than getting it on its own later.
@arianakudouchan I bought the double kit lenses and it serves the purpose pretty much. I suggest you to go for the double kit if you didn't buy it already.
Thinking of getting an Olympus factory refurbished e600 dual lens kit, which is basically the same price as the e520 dual lens kit. Any one with experience using refurb cameras?
after years with my Olympus OM10 I just ordered E620 for me, with 14-42 and pancake with lowered price. cant wait! I held it in hands ( I have big hands) and it felt really good, I was thinking that it will be too small for me, but its awesome, not too big, not too small + its light. I used Canon EOS400d for some time and it felt that it is made of very cheap plastic, but Olympus feels solid, yes, it is made in china, but feels better than Japanese Canons! Only thing I am aware is battery life.
I get good result when using the sports mode, with C-AF (Continuous Auto Focus.). Also, I shoot in Burst Mode. To freeze action and the subject is not too far, I also use fill in Flash. Experiment also the P (program mode). Depending on light condition, I adjust the ISO to 400-800 again using fill flash in low light.
im really getting a hard time about deciding which camera should i buy im thinking about nikon d5000, canon EOS 500 and the olympus E-620 i really would like some recommendations....
dude, I'm with Olympus and that was a good choice, i was in rush to buy a camera so just took one ! No matter what those biased reviews do, this cameras are generally better build, not looking cheap, the glass is prime and the pictures the same. They are not so user friendly as canon or nikon BUT you never got at canon or nikon that kind of pro settings, or maybe just at the very top models. This camera is smaller and lighter so, is the best choice for travel.
and another thing. a dslr sensor takes a lot of power and what pictures you think u can do, with a hot one, after filming something ? HD movies in dslr's is just another catch for the unknowing client. making movies with it, will just destroy your sensor 1000 times faster than taking pictures and consume 100 time more power. so you're totally right, you want to make movies, better buy a camcorder that's designed for that, instead of destroying your camera.
Im kinda confused, i went on Currys and the have a Olympus E-600 , is this the same as this, as i search the Olympus E-620 in their and that Camera comes up?
Right ok, its either that or Currys have made a mistake on their Website.Gathering that the E-600 isnt even on their website, i say its an error on Currys part.
Olympus released the E-600 in North America only. It cuts down the art filters to just Pop Art, Soft filter, and pinhole (my personal favorites anyway). Also no multiple-exposure mode. Otherwise, it's the exact same camera.
@MDKFILMS1 I just got the February issue of Digital Photo, there's an ad from Broadway Photo where they have both the E-600 and E-620. But I've never heard of E-600 either.
The E-600 is new... it takes away a couple features to lower the price. Fewer effects filters and no multiple-exposure mode, but everything camera and operation-related is the same. If you find one (North America only) and it costs less than the E-620, I'd say jump on that deal!
@MDKFILMS1 The E-600 was a special edition only sold on QVS. (I have one) It is basically the same as the E620. (you probably know this by now. ) :) I have not getting to use to using mine..very complicated, I think.
@MDKFILMS1 The E600 was sold exclusively for QVS. I ahve one, but it is basically like the E620. Still a difficult camera to use, if you ask me. Good luck!
what i wouldnt give for an E-620 with a D5000/D90 sensor with fringe-removal in camera processing.
for someone who does alot of concert shooting and mixes in a great deal of portraits,, its reallly frustrating picking between the two... it makes me want to rip my pubes out knowin how shitty the high ISO performance is on the E620. then again the D5000 doesnt offer in-body IS, art filters, light up buttons, PROPER swivel screen, live vew zoom quality, OR even the solid body of the E620,.... HELP
@ Lovewishy...Nikon d5000 has a video but e-620 doesn't have. If video is really important for you then buy the Nikon d5000 if not i'd recommend e-620...you'll love it for sure, esp. the art filter & illuminated buttons making it easier for photographers to adj settings in the camera when shooting at night/ dark areas.
Could I ask why. At first I thought I would want the Olympus E-620, but then I got to play around with a Nikon D60 and I fell in love with the pictures it took. And plus the Nikon has 11 AF points, and alot of other features that would be helpful
D5000 handles high ISOs better and adds video at 24 fps... but thats simply not enough to compare to the feature packed E620. not to mention a proper swivel display, and in body image stabilization ((: and all the lenses its compatible with.. shame on you nikon for selling us shit and adding 200 dollars for the competing camera.
i have made my decision. not from watching the video but comparing the specs, the D5000 came out looking like an angry teenager compared to the young adult
700gbp? this only sells at around 800usd or 500gbp. in asia its about 550gbp
anyway, i have this camera and love it. really a lot of improvements from the older models. btw i dont think its noisier than the e520. iso1600 on the e520 was bad, here its quite decent
Olympus is hidden gem. The 510/520 bodies are OUTSTANDING. I assume the others are as well. But the 14-42 lens and 40-150 are HORRIBLE. If you pair the 8MM fish or the 12-60 lens with the 510 or 520 you get absolutely stunning photos. I have both bodies and both lenses and plan on getting two E30s now that I discovered they changed the battery on the 620 (BAD, Olympus, BAD!). All they need to do us add two SDHC slots rather than CF and xD and it's a great system and so cheap compared to others.

Description of Studio2 and Master2 has to be corrected.
Master2 is the basic one and Studio2 (trial version)
is the one with greater functions
