The 2004 movie is a remake of the much better film of the same name made in 1955. The point is that Tyler Perry is not the one who is making films which show the strength and dignity of today's black female women who often raised their children alone and are now raising their grandchildren. When does a black woman get to sit down and get some much needed rest?
All the woman in the 2004 "Ladykillers" does is replicate the role created by the original white actress. And how does that movie or that actress empower us? The plot isn't even remotely indicative of black life!

I totally agree, mainly because I believe Tyler Perry has flipped the script for what has been considered "historically' negative. He has used the images and characters that white people have used to demonize black people to entertain black people and provide moral messages that uplift and add to the community's resilliance.
@atldymeztamika: So because a african american pushes it....its okay? The whole "video hoe" concept has JUST been rewritten because african americans are the rappers and created the songs and video idea to some extent...... AMAZING!
I'm so sick of Tyler Perry! I'm not mad at him for the first "Madea" movies but, after he gained power in Hollywood, he needed to make better movies. I was sickened by "Madea Goes To Jail", released 30 days after a black man became President. Is it that he likes dressing like a woman? What grandmother acts like "Madea"? We are a matriarchal race and our mothers and grandmothers are our backbone. Perry's depictions are a travesty. Nothing more than a minstral show like "Amos & Andy"!
Hey on the real if you don't know a grandma like Madea then you need to meet my grandma I swear they are just alike. I'll try to catch her on tape in action and post it for you to see but I have seen plenty of older people act like her.
I didn't say that I haven't encountered women who act like "Madea". I said that MY mother and grandmothers did not. I'd like to see a Hollywood depiction of an African-American matriarch who is educated (that doesn't mean having degrees - one can acquire education through life experiences), intelligent, dignified, and graceful. "Claire Huxtable"-type mothers DO exist!
