My father is from Portland very fair with blue/gray eyes and straight hair with very Euro features yet he too refers to himself as Black Jamaican and has always identified himself as that. Whereas my mother, who is mixed African/Jamaican and Jamaican Jew, sees herself as mixed though she clearly looks more African than my father.
