i saw Neil Young in concert in Atlanta, Georgia. This song gives me chills. I love Neil Young. He is a true artist. Don't bring me down makes me weeps. what great person. He is my muse.
Again, your choices of imagry continue to add to one's imagination, making for many choices for interpretation.
From the '89 release of "Freedom," it serves as yet another example of Neil's ongoing evolution, but not served by radio as was "Rockin In TFW," but just as the 'picture,' I see beginning around 2:03 through 2:25, a vision of a head/body at rest, beneath a setting sun, shows again just how far the mind can wonder when properly provoked.
@rockinroller7 I hadn't noticed that (head/body at rest, beneath a setting sun) Ross. In looking at clouds or even a simple piece of wood one can more often than not find some sort of human form. Thanks for the insight. Peace.
This is true. Over the years, taking photgraphs, mostly in the nature category, I've seen more things than I can recall. Most of the time others saw the same thing.
Such a curious thing, as well as interesting.
Your's was made most interesting given the setting of the sun just over the "body." Like a body at rest, or sleeping.
@88hanimart88 Lovely way of expressing your point. Yes it is true. In some respects the same holds true for self. If you are always looking for it you're in trouble. If you look outside yourself in giving and with love and concern for others one often may find ones true self. But yes to let go and stop looking... to "give it up" the rising may begin.
Not being a musician myself, I always thought, and still think!, that Neil Young is one of the best guitarplayers around, because of his melodies, and the emotion he can put in his guitar. Any guitarplayers can commend on this?
I play a little guitar (one actually is small-not kidding!) and I also play guitar a little. IMO Neil is one of the best guitarists. He is a pioneer in both acoustic and electric. He plays from the heart and gut. No one can play with the mind being entirely disengaged but many use the mind too much. Music mostly should be about emotion rather than intellect IMO. He is very melodic in much of his playing and seeks musicality over virtuosity. I think he would rather express than impress. My
i play alot of guitar, and have talked to alot of guitarists about that, and neil may not be as technically talented as eric clapton for instance, but he plays with emotion more than anyone else, as its clearly evident in this song and also "cortez the killer"
he is not as good technically, as others. but imo he is the best when it comes to emotions in guitar playing, which to me has always been more important than technique.
Neil has said "I'm not trying to be Eddie Van Halen". He knows he isn't a technical virtuoso. But I agree his playing is up there with some of the best when talkin' getting emotion through. Not only that but getting spiritual realities moving through his playing. The most amazing part is his body of work and his ecclectic abilities. Is he matched by any other in that way? I would say likely Not. ~cg
This is fantastic, I love this song. Where and when is this version from? I know this song had been floating around since the 70's before recording. It was originally called Road Of Plenty or somrehing.
Ya know, I was listening to Neil at the age of 12, and saw him in concert, for the first time, at your current age.
Obviously, I was hooked. Hooked on the lyrics, with such imagination, making you think, your own interpretation, as well as the always beautiful, or hard driving music, adding to the pleasure.
I deeply hope you will see him a soon as you can. I've seen him alone, with CS&N, and Crazy Horse about 8 times. He's not getting any younger.
hehe now i'm 18 and I've seen him when i was 15 in munich! nothing changes since the last 2/3 years, i still love his music, his lyrics, his passion....
Cool. didn't mean to imply he won't be around much longer, just to see him as often as possible, given how little we know about the future when it comes to life.
I'm sure you had a great time and will continue to.
One of the best song of History.

Mr Neil Young has it all:
The talent to write fantastic songs, a voice that goes so well with his songs, and the ability to play guitar.
The man is a True Artist.
