Consciousness expansion is vital for the world, but all the new age teachings tell people is that they are not responsible for their actions, and they don't need to be either thanks to 'willing' reality into existence. Anyone with any sense will say tell you that this is impossible, indeed it is a perversion of the true mystical teachings. Problems aren't gonna go away just by ignoring them.
