  • Lol it doesn't matter, Chapelle was a lot funnier.

  • George Lopez didnt do any act-outs afterwards. All he used was a similiar punch-line. If Lopez did take the idea, he re-appropiated it well and made it his own, using different delivery, and cleaned it up.

But its hard to know if a person is stealing jokes. I like Chapelle's joke better though. He added more layers and tagged it.

  • LMAO chappelles skit thing was funny AF (im mexican)

but no need to get racially serious here lets get along

stereotype jokes are funny, (mexican and a burrito or crossing border) or (black guy stealing or KFC) these jokes shouldnt b to bash theyr for a good laugh

  • When it comes to comedy theres so many jokes out there that its difficult to be completely original especially when your joking about current events or social commentary similar ideas are just bound to happen

  • Yes, it is!

  • I dont give a fuck as long ans they make me laugh, and they both make me laugh!!

  • Who the fuck cares who said it first!! Its COMEDY their job is to make you laugh

  • Comedy from the news is an open forum, some people have similar ideas, both comics are great no debate here.

  • there are 26 letters in the alphabet and only so many combinations, If you take them, and make me laugh, I will pay you, I am not taking count where my laughs came from..... Justsayin

  • It was close, but I think it is fine. Not joke stealing per say. Besides has all been done somewhere by someone.

  • definitly stealing.. chappelle did it in 2000 and lopez said it 8 years later.. wtf is wrong with all of you

  • @OOZiTen well yea chappelle was first but comeone it wasnt exactly "stealing"

now if george said it was his joke and he thot of it then yea it would be stealing but comeon now dont be so radical

    -a Mexican

  • Nope not at all stealing

  • not stolen at all unlike mencia but gabrial iglesias for the win!!

  • Parallel thinking they would have different outcomes in either comedians life. No joke stealing like menstalia

  • even if he stole it, he can deliver the funny, unlike mencia. that guy is just sad...

  • there both original guys

  • Yes that big head did it

  • idk if its joke stealing, When chapelle said the joke it wasnt really relavent just really funny, now that a black guy is the president its relavent and i dont think chapelle is doint stand up any time soon,, and IMITATION IS THE HIGHEST FORM OF COMPLIMENT enless your are CARLOS MENCIA KILL HIM

  • @killazintrainin Hes been doing standup for the past year...

  • Yes, George Lopez, the U.S. is the only country where a white woman and a black man can run for President of the United States. In fact, it's the only country where anyone can run for President of the United States.

  • It doesn't matter if it was stolen or not, beaners just aren't funny. Chappelle > Lopez anyday

  • @millz120844 Fuck You.

  • @millz120844 neither niggers sow go shove a kfc bucket up your ass.

  • chapelle is briliant he never stole shit

  • @almightyfoe borrowed yes but stole no. for example, his "white person voice" is very similar to pryor's but hey, what comedian wasnt influenced by pryor

  • mexican comedians are never funny at all

  • @ericBAGoDONUTS Couldn't agree more.

  • This is not stealing

  • Once a Comedian makes a joke about a Mexican Vice-President no other comedian is ever allowed to talk about Mexican Vice-Presidents. Shame of George for making a joke about a topic that was joked about in the past. You must "Colombian Vice-Presidents" until someone uses that then you must find another Latin Country and slap it in front of the title Vice-President. I think George owes Dave some money for pain and suffering he has caused Chapelle and the rest of the comedy world. What a tragedy.

  • @hwilliamc he didnt just use the premise of a mexican vice-prez, he has the same punchline too. premise(same) + punchline(sam) = joke(stolen)

  • Sii

  • Make Chapelle the president and George the Vice President and forget about current event jokes that anyone can come up with on the fly.

  • @Beazore123 GEROGE LOPEZ FUCKING SUCKS

  • @Beazore123 daves wasnt a current even joke though. it was said in 2000.

  • man there is soooo much material around to come up with something funny it's crazy,i think if you do that it tells us that you are lazy, un-trustworthy and a thief!

  • how about making Chappelle president and...... not make Lopez vice president? fix that country already!

  • More or less stolen.

  • Not stealing

  • Like in music, some minds think alike. The joke is very clever but I can see how many people would've thought of that joke. Mencia and Denise Leary steal jokes blatantly.

  • its not stealing not the same thing

  • dave ftw

  • as much as I wanna smash Lopez and call him a thief I will say this could be collaborative thinking since Lopez does nothing but hack mexican jokes so eventually he would've thought of it. But its very similar so Lopez could've taken it

  • Gay comments, gay video. Why? BECAUSE EVERY COMEDIAN, RAPPER, SINGER, BAND EVEN POLITICIANS STEAL SHIT. So why care? Its fuckin bull how you point this out. Its like telling your friend a joke from some comedy special and say then you are doing the same shit, they never say they made it up, they just use it. Come on peeps. Use those pea sized brains.

  • nope but u guys r op to ur own opinion!

  • I don't think Lopez necessarily stole the joke. Think about how many jokes there are out there...its inevitable that some people will come up with the same jokes. I can only imagine how hard it is to come up with material you think funny just to have it heavily screened against existing shit to give the appearance of originality. It was funny for me both times each comedian said it :)

  • hahaha both are freakin hilarious

  • those are two different jokes.

Its incredibly obvious Lopez would come up with a joke like that.

  • ITS DAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And they call Mencia for a joke stealer hahha. Hypocrisy. Doesn't matter how you try to explain your way out of it. Changing the jokes segments like taking out names doesn't matter in essence it´s still the same joke. But who cares. If its funny use it.

  • i like them both!!!

  • it's kind of stealing, but it's not blatant plagiarism like carlos mencia does, at least lopez switched it up a little bit and used it when the joke had some relevance (obama and clinton running for president).. everyone knows chappelle is a genius, and he's crossed almost every racial line there is.. so what's left for the other racial comedians? not much... but at least he didn't use the joke basically word for word like mencia

  • I like George, but he can only take the same Latino jokes so far. Chappelle is an absolute genius!

  • there are real comics and there are tv personalities

  • Dave is fucking legit.

George is known for stealing jokes, He just wasn't as bad as Ned Mencia.

  • Comment removed

  • Lopez is mad at Carlos Mencia for stealing his jokes while Lopez himself has been notoriously known to steal plenty of jokes from other comedians. The guy is a complete hack and the only jokes this poor bastard knows is the same old recycled Latino jokes.

Hey George, how about you get some new material, you ancient, stereotypical, worn out, old bastard.

  • Exactly the same joke.

  • two completely seperate

  • ya cant copy write a fukkin joke.

  • @thespokenfont it doesn't matter. it's disgraceful.

  • I don't think it's really stolen, I think they both came up with it and Lopez kind of told it better because of the 08 election.

  • DAMN I WANTED TO RIDE WITH LOPEZ BUT HE STOLE THAT JOKE FOR SURE! DAMN HE SAID THE WORD INSURANCE! HE SHOULD HAVE CREDIT CHAPELLE WITH THAT JOKE. SHIT I WAS RIDING WITH LOPEZ... FUCK!!!!

  • even if lopez did steel the joke, at least he used it at the grammy's and not his own hbo special like mencia.

  • @deadfrogcomedy This wasn't stealing. How many songs are written about the same shit. There isn't an unlimited idea of social concepts to make fun of. If two people have vaguely similar jokes, that doesn't mean anyone stole.

  • Yep.

Also, Dave's way more funnier than Lopez.

  • @FilMarck They're both very funny and neither of them stole anything. You think of all the thousands of jokes they've made over the years that they would purposely steal someone elses 45 second joke...? Neither of them are dumb enough to steal jokes and ruin their great reputations and huge careers for a tiny bit of their act in performances 8 years apart... It's a coincidence that their jokes had a similar concept. Happens all the time.

  • No Chapelle was funny, unlike Lopez.

  • ah no, this ain't even a full or funny joke. I think that George just wanted to mention about putting a Mexican as a vice president since we have a black president

  • @crydemons ya, you might be right

  • @crydemons ikr everyones trippin georges is far diffrent from du other fools

  • i don't think it was joke stealing because usually you can tell what super specific direction a comic will take his joke in and I think these guys both stumbled on some good shit. ya know

  • chappelle is funnier anyways. by far, no contest.

  • @theblackmanOyeah Yes, and it's not job stealing because Chappelle said "SANTIAGO" and Lopez said "FLACO"

  • @Coffeeisnecessary lol. really cause they changed the names, of course he would do that. lol

  • no. not a stolen joke on chappelle's part.

  • Chappelle >10 Lopez's.....

  • no...it just shows material is much harder to make now since jokes are at the peak of saying "ain't no room for new joke no more!" so technically he ain't stealing. its more of a reference than stealing.

  • Chapelle makes it 100 times funnier

  • I dont say joke stealing, its just the fact that everything has been done, said, acted, shown and been preformed a million times over...to many people on the planet leads to no originality.TO MANY PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET!! 6,000,000,000

  • Hell yes that is joke stealing.

  • he copy

  • naw man, it ain't stealing. any one could've came up with the idea, they just had to make it their own. so get off the fucking nuts!!

  • Eddie Murphy did this joke back in the 80s about being the first black president and getting assasinated so he'd get a shitty VP

  • of course its stealing,

  • i think its funny no its called covering a joke as long as he changes the words around and the title just like music its fair game

  • @drjaybones no, that's a cardinal fucking sin in the comedy business.

  • maybe they just think alike

  • the only country that can have a black man and a white woman run for president of united states...no really is there gonna be some black man in canada running for president of the united states....

  • This IMO isnt stealing, the jokes are very similar and you can even say that maybe Lopez's joke was influenced by Chappelle's but when you look at what someone like Carlos Mencia did its basically copy & paste.

If you have to question if its stealing or not then it probably isnt.

  • well chapelles was in 2000 and lopezes was in 2008 so if there is stealingits lopez stealing shit

  • @1cwa si... si

  • Comment removed

  • Dave has awesome delivery.

  • Same idea, not same joke.

  • its proble stealing on chapelles part, but you gotta congradulate him on finding a stealable joke from george lopez hes so unfunny

  • @mrdta97 pretty sure chappelles was first.

  • @rYno1431 your right, i assumed george's was first because hes actually mexican and every single one of his jokes are about how he's mexican didnt notice the dates lol

  • @mrdta97 lol all good mate

  • @mrdta97 wrong

  • @The8starr shut up thank you

  • @mrdta97 you ARE wrong

  • @The8starr not arguing with you get a life.

  • @mrdta97 stfu loser, you are the idiot that attacked me, I was just pointing out a fucking error you made just fucking man up to it. End of story.

  • @The8starr what are you talking about?

  • i like daves better though!

  • Lopez is okay, you really only like the jokes because you're mexican and relate to them sometime but its just really repetitive humor. It gets old fast and I think he's washed up, he has that talk show now and you can tell the guy isn't going anywhere.

  • I think its a joke thats easy to come up with. Both are great comedians

  • lopez sucks Chappelle is actually funny

  • They were different jokes with a similar premise.

  • Lol dave chappelle did it first an funnier

  • Mexicans and Niggers both steal its in their savage DNA!!!

  • @Bandito8487 thats racist

  • @Bandito8487 do you must be white. Yet you have a mexican termed user.

  • I know the dates were up but you should've put the dave chappelle clip first. and yeah george lopez sucks, he stole it.

  • Lopez could just blame his writers.... but it is a blatant rip off. I don't think lopez is funny... cept that jennifer... she is the funniest "lopez" in the family.

  • all lopez does is talk about how mexicans are awsome and how white people are laxy and oppressive. It's not offensive, but it's just annoying after a while. At least chapelle has different material.

  • not sure why you played lopez first as his bit came out nearly 10 years after chapelle's

  • STOLEN

  • theyre all funny but its how u get the jokes get it right people it dont matter who is funnier but what if they put george lopez dave chapple and carlos mencia together on one show howz that for an answear

  • I like both comedians. There's nothing new under the Sun, & everyone has there own visions & views of every aspect of life. With Chappelle, the joke was more of a vision in 2000. Which is a credit to his imagination. I'm more than sure Chappelle's joke was very INSPIRING for a CURRENT event that was almost REALITY in 2008; so therefore, the time frame for Lopez's joke was very appropriate & appurtetant.

  • Same premise, same punch line. Stolen joke.

  • People give George Lopez too much credit. He really isnt that funny and it sucks that most people dont realize that because those people keep feeding him compliments and "laughs" as though he is. He cant make a joke without embarrassing his peoeple.

  • I call coincidence. Great minds think alike?

  • I wouldn't say Lopez stole it. Since it was an awards show, the joke was surely given to him by a writer, but the writer definitely stole it.

  • Lopez aint got SHIT on Chapelle. Dave is a legend

  • Of course its the only country where a black man and a woman can run to be President of the United States. Its the only country that has a President of the United States. Its an idiotic set up to bastardize a joke by a far superior comedian, Dave Chappelle. Lopez can't hold a candle to Chappelle.

  • yeah, there have been more instances of him stealing jokes, so i've heard. But on a funnier note, Chappelle should have Santiago as his Vice President and Jackie Chan as Secretary of Defense XPPPP

  • delivery was totally different and jokes were only similar

  • I'd say its stealing fuck george lopez.

  • Dave Chappelle is a legend :)

I love it when he says "I'm Rich BIIIAAAAATCH"

  • @Nurullah1200 he hates that.

cuz all people who do when they saw him in public was shout stupid shit from the chappelle show.

  • george lopez does have some funny ass eyes...

  • they areboth funny

  • george lopez is not funny

  • Yes Mr. Lopez... this IS the only country where a black man and a white woman can run for President of the United States. Well done on your congratulating the American people!

  • Lopez sucks dick.

  • all i can say guys george is doing it ,,,either way if it takes him to say any joke in any way or race,,,,dont hate on mr. lopez cause he haves 2 shows earing ...poor chapel is done with and sorry too say but he a crack head ,,saw it with my own eyes ....thats why he stay at laugh factory in hollywood ,,,gues how much he gets paid,,,,,true story.............................................................................ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm30 $ a skit,

  • There is no way george dint see daves comedy every one has heard of dave chapplle

  • Who care both are true comics in their own right

  • You need to understand that all comedians have stole at least one joke. It's just like rap or movies, They grab the product, put a remix or add or take some stuff from it and make it new.........I don't really give a fuck if you steal or you don't if your funny than That's what counts

  • @xdicex30

You have low standards then. You think if you turn in a paper with someone else's work, it's ok as long as you get a good grade?

  • @xdicex30 Then you aren't a real fan of comedy as an art.

  • its a little adapted ...and in my opinion, chappelle made it better and funnier.

  • it was way funnier when dave said it, and it made more sense.

  • @paulinotou It totally made more sense when Dave said it. Just the delivery was better. And Lopez said "this is the only place where a white woman and black man can run for the president of the United States" - that makes no sense...where else could people run for president of the United States??

  • Chapelle wrote the joke which took brains, and delivered it well which took talent. Lopez just said it, which means he can read from a card. No question who is the better comedian.

  • lopez sucks chapelle rocks

  • Mencia would've stolen it word for word.

  • I would say that most likely Lopez stole the joke but i think it's not entirely impossible for him to come up with that joke without hearing it from Chapelle. But the most obvious thing was that Chapelle is sooooo much funnier than Lopez.

  • The order of the video is misleading Dave Chapelle did this joke years before Lopez. Thats killing them softly by Dave which is from 2000 the lopez bit is from 2007. Just to clarify.

  • I guess when were the dates of each one? That is how you would really know.

  • Chris Rock does a similar bit, about no white man wanting to appoint a black man VP. Because some other black person will shoot him, so the black VP would be President.

  • Lopez is a douche...

  • the idea is the same but i'm on the fence. carlos was a definite joke stealer though.

  • yes. that is joke stealing

  • Chappelle > Lopez

  • Nahhh

  • Nanny

  • Its very possible that more than one person can come up with the same joke.

    it happens all the time.

  • GEORGE

    LOPEZ

    SHOULD

    HAVE

    BEEN

    SUED

    BY

    ALL

    THE

COMEDIANS (ON BAHALF OF DAVE CHAPPELLE)

  • I think you have way too much time on your hands.

  • The delivery of Chappelle is so much more natural, and so much more intuitive than Lopez. In all honesty though, stealing spoken material is so hard to enforce because it happens naturally. If I hear my teacher say 2/3 of the Earth is covered in water, if I say that, does that count?

  • @mebaran dude the structure and content of the joke is almost identical.... now regarding your recounting ofinformation taught to you , you already prefaced it by saying you were told by your teacher... maybe he should say i heard from dave chapelle....

  • straight up stealing that was too obvious

  • joerogan(dot)net #114. long story short, a friend and cocreater of chapelle's show wrote for the grammies.

  • no greats use other greats matrieal

  • Chris Rock used this joke in "Head of State" back in 2003 with Bernie Mac.

  • Why do comedians even have writers? That's freaking sad. You should write your own stuff so what you project, comes from yourself!

  • Chapelle is one of the best ever and Lopez can't make a joke without talking about how he is Mexican.

  • @tuccake and that is why Giraldo was the best latino comedian ever, cuz he didnt take the easy way out and do some corny ethnic shit for an hour, racial comedy is fine but imo Dat Phan and Lopez kill it for me... for some reason i like Margarette Cho though

  • @Dafluffy1 Exactly

  • @tuccake well duh dumass. das how hes gotten succesfull.more than chappelle

  • @6277839723235 What are you talking about?

  • @tuccake dave just does it but with black people... it's no different

  • @SanguineBullet667 Come on man it isn't the same. I literally haven't heard a joke from Lopez that didn't reference how he is Mexican.
