FYI it isn't fiberoptic wiring. I'm a U-Verse tech. We run CAT5 wiring from the Nid (phone box on side of house) to the modem (gateway). We replace all of the coax in the house if needed (if it's RG59). There's fiber to the node (main crossbox in your neighborhood), but from there it goes to your house via normal telephone twisted pair drop wire.
@KINGVBLOCKTV lmfao Time warner sucks the Cable box card is outside of the box and causes too much problems at least uverse has there subscription card in the box
sometimes i have to get off the internet because i have at&t uverse and my parents have to reset the gateway and if you want to reset a diffrent way just hold the power button for 10 secs but for me it resets in 8 secs
no, he replaced all the coax rom the splitter to the boxes. and ran what he called fiberoptic wire from the box outside of my house to the router inside.
I'm Happy with my Directv and TWC internet service I don't get this service in Gardena CA and all so I don't get Verizon High Speed internet either I say go with Directv :)
yea this is only avaiable in select areas and only populated areas.
i will be moving in a few years to a more rural land and only real option is satilite. but iv never had it so i dont know who to go with. who ever has more channels for the price and HD
@mifan93 Go with DIRECTV. They have been proven to have the most HD out of ANY TV provider period (HD is free with them too). Plus, my experience with DIRECTV has been great! HD picture looks amazing and signal almost never cuts out (It will have to be a really nasty storm outside for that to happen) Anyways, overall it's been great and I highly recommend it.
Endgame1979 Question? I used to have the old firmware version in my 2wire router but somehow it updated itself. Now i have a new version, i have a shared printer that I used to print to with the old version but with the new version i'm having problems. Any ideas or any ideas from anybody..specs..Windows 7 Pro /Vista/ local printer connected to main computer. Computer is on while sharing the printer..
you should have moved the tv yourself, im a tech and were not supposed to move customers tvs or furniture. its fiber optic to the CO in your area then it converts to copper twited pair. once it hits your house the tech will use coax or cat5 cable, whatever suits the situation better.
i moved the tv but i suppose he wanted to move it more, but its ok
ya the wire from the box to the router by my computer is white with a lot of little colored ones inside. then thr rest is coax or copper wire. ill make a vid or it.
How do you know its fiber optic..Some techs say that its fiber optic but they are using electrical wire. Plus fiber breaks easy..well, hopefully it last, i have u verse too, electrical with data..prety neat bundle.
@com520 I am a former prem tech myself. It really depends on the neighborhood you live in. If you're in an older neighborhood, it's fiber to the node (FTTN) which means your fiber optic line ends and the box down the street and is transposed over to copper. If you're in a new neighborhood/housing addition/whatever, it's fiber to the premises (FTTP) which means you have a fiber line coming straight to your house and you got an optical network terminal drilled to your house. FTTP is way better
just buy the right length cables and plug them into the red and white OUT on the back of the box and plug in the other end into the IN on your tv or stereo reciever
HDMI cable is great! When we first got our HDTV, the stupid installer just pluged our old SD cables that were 10 years old into it haha. So we had to get the right cable!
The PQ is so amazing! Once you get an HDTV you'll wonder how you got along without it!!!!!
well i did actually....i had it turned completly sideways but the guy still turned it. this tv weighs
a few hundred pounds, so i thought i would be kind as to move it for him!!!!! and the tv was very stable on the shelf, so i dont know what he was doing....good enough explanation??
I was wondering if this is hooked up like normal cable through wires from outside. My apartments wont allow drilling into the building. So i thought i would ask!!!! Please let me know. Thanks
no one broadcast in 1080P yet, highest is 720p....yes 720p is better than 1080i...look it up, also you are either wired with cat5 or coax.....you do not have any sort of fiber inside your house feeding your u-verse!
well....the guy replaced the line from the pole to my house and ran a new line into my house to my new reciever down my basement the has phone tv and internet in it! and the said it is a fiber line, and i know for a fact from looking at the connection on the ling its not a coax.
it's cat5 dude... orange, green, blue, and brown wires. the only fiber they use are to feed the video to the cross box. from there, some area's have fiber that run from the cross box too the interface on the outside of the house. from there they feed your RG (gateway) with either coax or cat5..and then from your RG they feed you stb's with CAT5! or coax! cat5 is just a network cable..
this is not true. ESPN and other sports channels push 1080i due to the fast moving, and 720p cannot capture all that and remain looking good. HOWEVER our boxes convert the signal from 1080i to 720p for shows pushing it, WHICH CAN LEAD TO ISSUES, so I say, 720p setting is better.
ok...you are the moron...NOBODY BROADCAST a tv show in 1080P yet, the only way you can get 1080P is through video on demand, ps3,xbox, bluray.......maybe you're thinking of 1080i big difference
Had all 3 at one time or another. Cable is definitely the worst experience although the first of the three. DirecTV was good, but I was constantly forced to upgrade equipment even after buying two HD receivers. Finally became pissed when to get all the newest HD channels I needed new equipment. Went with U-verse and have been pleased overall. The free DVR service and equipment is great, however the equipment will lock-up sometimes which can be very frustrating.
guarantee: 90% of u-verse issues are related to the quality of the installation and experience of the tech. its an awesome service, way ahead of its time but VERY fragile, all has to be done JUST right, so many variables can cause problems, 100 X more complicated than installing a dish or cable. the problem; its new and so are the tech.s. once the workforce is more weathered I guarantee it will take over. Oh, and yes motorolla sucks but att is switching to cisco systems for the equipment soon.
Apparently the TV still works which is why he was able to show the demo. Even the casing didn't crack I guess. I would think he could have AT&T customer service take care of it otherwise.
OMG U-Verse SUCKS they came out and installed it in my house. took them 2 days at 5 hours a day and I can only watch one HD program on one Tv at a time and now after 2 weeks its all glitchy and sh-t, I think I'm going to go back to cable I never had this problem with them just paid alittle more per month but now i think it is worth it just for the reliability and the fact that we would have good VOD and I could watch HD on one tv while my wife watchs Hd on the other
where i live the people down the street has it and i called att to order it and they was like it not avalible in my area and this was in febuary and we still dont have it in my area
hey, i have the same kind of t.v. in my house. it's excalty the same. does the HD channels work on your t.v. even though it's not a newer one? please answer back because i dont want to spend a lot of money on a newer t.v. if it will work on the one i have now. please answer back!!!
I suggest you upgrade to a 1080p if you can. Thats full HD. If you get those channels you will see the difference!!! Have you watched golf in HD? Well I don't like golf but that was amazing!
yes...i have a 40" sony lcd commin my way with 1080p HD.....i saw it at the store with blue ray and its AMAZING!!!!!yes i have watched golf and you can see EVERYTHING!!!!!the grass looks so REAL!!!!!i also have discovery theater and they show volcanoes and waterfalls and other things like that and its SO CLEAR AND BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
NO HD will not wrk correctly on that type of TV if u have a HD box hooked up to that tv then u will be able to watch the HD channels but they will only be in a digital format not hd you will have a black box kinda like a picture frame all the way around the picture. If you want true HD picture u would need a HD tv and a HD converter box.
FYI tmanno94 if U buy a new tv it will be HD compadable and have a all digial tuner init and U can get your local channels in HD for free with a Antenna hooked up to a brand new tv you can also get the locals in HD with basic anolog cable just hooked up to a new tv. basically any tv made since around DEC, last year. 07 to current time and on.
i live in florida and it hasnt been aviable for it yet. i just wanted to know is it worth the money? we are going to get the U 200. which one do you have?
i signed up for the u100 package but they gave me the Ufamily package.....i hate the family package, its 44 dollars a month for what i have now,and the u100 is 44 dollars a month but you have to pay for the boxes each month....
it freazes up alot and my package channel selection sucks,so i cant afford anything higher than this, not in my bugget. so im getting rid of it. ill have to shop arround more.
By the way, it's not a cable box. It's an IPTV receiver. I am a U-Verse technical support agent, and a good 90% of U-Verse members do not know that U-Verse is NOT cable. It is IPTV which is delivered through a DSL line.
Have you had problems with residential gateways freezing up, or otherwise causing a complete loss of both TV and Internet Service with customers?
Both the re-manufactured and even the so-called brand new RGs in the Kansas City area apparently have an extremely high (and frequent) lock-up rate. Its become the leading negative issue with local U-Verse customers, although the service is still relatively new around here (16 months) and is slowly being rolled-out one neighborhood at a time.
i am very dissipointed withit. u verse just came to my area last december and i got it and it sucks. my package sucks...i am having to reset the boxes like every 2 weeks about cuz of it freezing up. so its goin BYE BYE
idk...im wonderin myself....i had it completly sideways and he was tryin to move it more and dropped it....too bad it didnt break or i didnt have a new t.v.
yer man im an installer it aint as easy as u think running cables n shit u think we put up a dish run a cable and its done ffs it pisses me off its a tough job
FYI it isn't fiberoptic wiring. I'm a U-Verse tech. We run CAT5 wiring from the Nid (phone box on side of house) to the modem (gateway).
