Its amazing that Locke was right and it took Jack 5 seasons until he was the man of faith and that he had a destiny on the island. Wish Locke was more important in the end though, always thought it would be Locke saving the island but his destiny was to convince Jack to do it.
People can say what they want about the ending - and that's a subjective thing, but it's a brilliantly written programme from start to finish, and I certainly recommend the experience.
I remember everyone saying that after season 2 or 3, the creators started making shit up. This scene basically proves that to be wrong - not ALL of it (like the whole Michael/Walt storyline, the pregnant women storyline) but it proves the main storyline itself was planned and in the making since the beginning.
@WilhelmRyan815 the walt and pregnant storyline is very important in the final season. Not directly, but there significance and what they represet are.
Why women die while pregnant is directly related to the source.
And to be special like Walt means you are the natural candidate for protector. MiB was also "special" like Walt. Thats why Mother wanted Mib to be protector.
I can go into more detail, but thats the basic in how everything in lost connects.
This show is fricken AWESOME, By far the BEST written, BEST acted, BEST story, BEST narrative, BEST production, BEST soundtrack, BEST cinematography, BEST EVERYTHING.
Jack's right about one thing however, the smoke thing would've more then likely killed John considering John was a candidate for Jacob. Other then that though Locke was right for almost everything
it was desmond who failed to enter the numbers in time and when he realized that the button must be pushed locke destroyed the computer that lead to the hatch being destroyed because locke didnt have faith in the numbers and pushing the button
@177166t Well yeah, but do you think without The Island the plane would've crashed BEFORE the hatch imploding into itself. I'm no expert, but when there is a bunch of electromagnetism going crazy what would be destroyed first? The hatch right on top of the pocket of electromagnetism, or the plane 25,000 - 30,000 feet in the air?
@177166t By getting touched they were destined to come to the island. Desmond crashing their plane was chain reaction set forth by Jacob or the island to bring those people to the island. They were all pushed towards Flight 815 by the island.
@177166t No it was The Island, or if you'd prefer, The Source/Heart of The Island that brought them there. It brought Smother there too, then Claudia, who carried Jacob and young Smokie. It was The Island and its power. Jacob wanted to bring them but it was up to The Island.
this conversation always gave me goosebumps... way back when, when it first aired, i was left thinking, "Who's right? is the island really special or is it all just an illusion?"
now when i watch it, i get goosebumps through the entire thing, because every single thing that's said here comes to be, and it has such an incredible meaning. this is the real meat of the show, and it makes me so happy that this is what the end focused so much on.
and the funny thing Locke was right when Jack does believe in Destiny cause he said it himself later on when he wanted to blow the island to change the paste
I do agree that this was one of the greatest scenes in the show cause later on we all find out that locke was right the whole time. I really loved this show, I can't believe its over
Ha Little did John no the Hatch was just the beginning. I love how the show becomes something completely different after you watch all the other seasons and then come back and re-watch older episodes. I seriously hope they release a series box set I have been deliberately not been buying the seasons so I could get a series box set. I don't even own more than 5 DVDs buy I'm buying this when it comes out.
"Yes you do, but you don't know it yet" . So f**ckin' great!

Locke is attempting in this scene his very purpose for being brought to the island...to make Jack a believer.

after watching the entire series, looking back at this scene really shows that John Locke was following faith blindly at @ 0:16.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
season 1 and 2 - epic!
season 3 - tolerable
seasons 4 and 5 - sufferable filler.
last season: with all the crappy fillers, i couldn't connect with it anymore...
great show, destroyed by greedy producers and corrupted screenplay writers..
