hi - we also try to have the SPG clipped up as well espcially on open water dives. But as you say by having everthing with its own clip and not crossed over the body it is a whole lot easier taking off your bcd
we follow SSI and ITDA guidance which likes to have both regulators on the diver's right side, and SPG on left. There shouldn't be anything clipped across the body.
