I played the HELL out of this game. I had Intellivision (It's still up in the attic) and I spent many summer hours enjoying Tron, B-17, Dungeons and Dragons, Pitfall....and Atlantis!! I topped a million points on Tron Deadly Discs many times, and used to regularly toast the Recognizer. Back to Atlantis though--I remember this Atlantis commercial like it was yesterday. GREAT creative ad and so totally '80s. Thinking back, this could have given an impressionable child severe nightmares.
This commercial did in fact give me a memorable dream. Not a nightmare, but to the point that for a long time I thought that the dream was real and I had imagined the commercial.
I was a ColecoVision and VCS fan back in the day, but I have to give credit where due: the Intellivision version of Atlantis was GORGEOUS. One of the coolest home games of the early 80s.
$5 in a bargain bin at a music store in late 1983. Money well spent.
