"Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting "Jesus Christ," so that it would read "A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;" the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination". "The christian religion is a parody on the worship of the Sun, in which they put a man whom they call Christ, in the place of the Sun, and pay him the same adoration which was originally paid to the Sun". Thomas Paine
"And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter". Thomas Jefferson
1 -- Thus, whether this Court agrees that “religion” meant monotheism or believes that it meant Christianity; and whether this Court agrees that a belief in future rewards and punishments was part of the definition of “religion,” or believes the opposite; it is clear that atheism, heathenism, and paganism were not part of the definition of “religion.”
The bill for establishing religious freedom, the principles of which had, to a certain degree, been enacted before, I had drawn in all the latitude of reason & right. It still met with opposition; but, with some mutilations in the preamble, it was finally passed; and a singular proposition proved that it's protection of opinion was meant to be universal. GEN'TILE, n. [L. gentilis; from L. gens, nation, race; applied to pagans.]
In the scriptures, a pagan; a worshipper of false gods; any person not a Jew or a christian; a heathen. The Hebrews included in the term goim or nations, all the tribes of men who had not received the true faith, and were not circumcised.
1 - ''B. The true historic meaning of “religion” excludes paganism and witchcraft''
From Websters 1828 Online Dictionary:
religion
4. Any system of faith and worship. In this sense, religion comprehends the belief and worship of pagans and Mohammedans, as well as of christians; any religion consisting in the belief of a superior power or powers governing the world, and in the worship of such power or powers.
This is a quote from Webster's 1828 about religion. n. relij'on. [L. religio, from religo, to bind anew; re and ligo, to bind. This word seems originally to have signified an oath or vow to the gods, or the obligation of such an oath or vow, which was held very sacred by the Romans.]
In the VOLUMINOUS writings of Thomas Jefferson, chief architect of this freedom, he SPECIFICALLY mentions polytheism as being protected. That pretty much guts every single one of their arguments.
Christianity should not be considered constitutional, because it worships three gods pretending to be one. Ironically, islam is the only truly and unconfused monotheistic religion, even Judaism has its female Shekinah!! Of course, some or many pagans are not pure hard core polytheists, are they? Not een Hindus! The only answer is to make all religion unconstitutional. Amen
@nargargole The fundamental question is "How do the many relate to the One, and how does the One relate to the many"??? As Bede Griffiths never tired of saying..."Reality (God) is not One, not two, but non-dual (advaita).
All in all, it's just another brick in the wall....
I would take the challenge, but I'm not good at making scholarly videos. I speak from the heart more-so than the head (though I try to bring reasoned arguments), so, yeah, but I could make a response anyway, even if it wouldn't "qualify" I still owe Chris a video, because I had said i would make one, but I have been feeling kind of manky lately. But i will get that done as well.

@nargargole That's an interesting point, but it doesn't really help our argument because most people won't see it that way.
