Christy: at 16, this was my favourite song too (that was back in the '70s)... Check out the version they're covering (by the Crew Cuts, 1954) at "watch?v=Q9G0-4TWwew"... In turn, the Crew Cuts were doing a new version of the Chords' original (which didn't have the ya-da-da-da, also 1954); the Overtones do a great job of covering that version.
@KukaHollywood I am totally going to sing this to my girlfriend today! 8/13/2011. She is going to come over and I am going to crank up my stereo system and dance to oldies music!! haha YOU ARE AWESOME FOR LIKING THIS MUSIC
@KukaHollywood On my date last week I totally forgot to sing it to herrrr AHH!! I sang this song to her before though. "Mary's Song" by Tyler Ward Acoustic version. I am currently writing a song for her now and I can't wait to play it for her. I am thinking of playing it to her at guitar center so the whole store can hear it! I totally wanna take her on a picnic and play a little acoustic guitar for her hahah. What you think?
@mindfreakchick13 I agree with you on that! I was actually born in 80 so I had some time in that decade. Trust me, you don't want to be a kid in the 80's. If I could go back at the age I am now, I think it would be much cooler. And the 50's. I would kill to visit them. Except I live in the South. I think I would visit somewhere up North. Too much anger down here at that time.
im so happy to know that i am not the only one who loved this movie it was like all i watched when i was a little girl my mom said it was the only thing that would shut me up lol!
i can't indeed, but i thought that you meant Baldwin and the Whiffles.. so that's why i commented. and it ís the greatest movie of all time! i watched it over a hundred times :P

This version is actually sung by Gerry Beckley (of the band America), Timothy B. Schmit (The Eagles, Poco), and musician extraordinaire Andrew Gold.

The Crew-Cuts made the original version and they sang it quite well.
termanator9889 2 years ago
The Chords sang it originally and MUCH better than the very bland and white bread version of the Crew Cuts.
KingCreole74 2 years ago 5
actually, the chords sang the original, but the crew cuts covered it later on, making their version the more popular one, i believe
doublehelix777 2 years ago
Gah! I hope the Crew Cuts cover isn't more popular than the Chords version because it simply is not anywhere near as good as the Chords'!
