Imo the Rakghouls... its really just another name for Zombies. They "Cheat Death" and you become "infected" once bitten and/or scratched. Im Star Wars fan but really Muur used the talisman to cheat "death" (which more than likely means bringing back the dead"; normally people consider dead creatures/humans that get up and walk/run and try to eat your face and infect you once they have done so Zombies. in a way they are really the same thing except more mutant like. similar no?

The Rakghouls weren't wiped out by the bombardment of Taris. Taris is in the game but it's just rubble and forests overrun with Rakghoul.

This flashpoint doesn't take place on Taris, it's set on another planet that has been deliberately attacked by someone who is controlling/has trained the Rakghoul. The Republic/Imperials try to intervene to try and persuade the planets under attack to join their side in the war.

And if you just get scratched the republic troops will line you up and shoot you. The disease makes you go insane and act like a rakghoul. YOU AREN'T A ZOMBIE. And at the end of that flashpoint.
