Hated, HATED Nathan's old albums. Some of the shittiest production and sloppiest riffs ever released on a record this decade. King of the Beach however, is really great. His band, if this sound keeps up, could become a legitimate successor to Blink-182.

@fangettes Ok, Wavves may be, well, druggier that Blink-182 was. But the same "I don't give a shit" attitude remains, with a similar emphasis on simple chords, fake gold, and teenage stupidity. Also, even if Blink didn't have the same creative minds as Wavves, they had a really great drummer in Travis Barker that is on a different stratosphere than Nathan's rhythm section ever will be. I don't care about what movements they're connected to.

@newwind07 Maybe you don't understand that I really like this record, just like you. Reasons notwithstanding, we in some form or another have similar tastes in music. Let's not argue why that is. Just cause you have bad memories of Blink-182 from high school, doesn't mean that the influence isn't there on this record. Hell, Nathan Williams even resembles Tom DeLonge from back then. Part of the joy of putting on King of the Beach is that nostalgia from pop-punk bands during middle school.

I hear melody, but having melody and fast tempos doesn't make a band pop-punk. I just think that Wavves is a little more 'real', a little more credible than that Blink shit. There is a reason you don't see frat boys with Wavves shirts, and you do see them with Blink 182 shirts. The latter was made for them.

Nathan is a fan of Blink sure, but that doesn't mean they made his music what it is. Take note that he first said he wanted to headline. It sounded like he just wants his band to be big.
