@tgnylu i think every guitar player has their own things going on and can do whatever they want with their rig... the tone is amazing! theres nothing wrong with getting custom pedals.
Just wanted to say that was a great overview of your rig. A lot of gear videos I watch, it usually consists of the guitar tech only naming the gear. Really liked how you actually played majority of your pedals and showed what you were using and how you go through your loops by playing a song.
Hey man I am sure you are really tired of people asking but do you think you give contact info for the Reign amp? I live in Dallas and I am looking at some amps. Like Morgan dual 20, shaw tonerod boutique amps as well as dr zs, Mesa lonestar etc. Sorry if this is an annoying question.
@0AllForNaught0 Check out my new video i just posted. I changed how i powered the whole thing and got rid of the pop. Also you are hearing just as much ambient pop from me actually stepping on the pedal as is coming thru the amp. There is a little that comes thru the amp, but a good bit also just the sound of me stepping on the pedal.
Either way check out my new video. Im powering the whole thing w/ the new bradshaw / Dunlop powersupply. The pop is totally gone and sounds super clean
@sonofgod316 I'm asking that again - the pop he's getting is seriously bad, and would echo through whatever venue he's playing with some serious authority.
Not to mention how hard it is on the speakers. It's probably a cheap switcher - Mesa Bigfoot channel switchers have this problem: to insure immediate switching, they forgo any resistors necessary to deal with built-up charge in the circuit, which creates a pop.
Sometimes you can alleviate it by cycling through the switches in stand-by mode

@MrAvenger676 ya i dont "need" any of it. I am lucky and blessed to have it tho. Each piece adds a different texture and tone that I can use in the studio and live.
@d0d0Lgarutz I had a hilton volume pedal. Its a great pedal. It just wasnt the right fit for me. It adds some harsh high frequencies that sound sizzly to me. I actually A B 'd the good rich and the hilton with the guitar tech for the Counting Crows and personally liked the good rich a lot better.

@jameyice1 I would love to have th eReign contact information. I am looking for something different and it has the sound that I love. Please, when you have time, leet me know the contact info.
the Muscomlab does have a pop stopper. But its a feature that you have to go into the unit and activate. it goes from 0-9 it delays the signal when pushed so the pop doesnt happen. SO your sound isnt immediate but the pop is gone
Good to know. I should look into messing with that. It has always been my experience w/ anything truebyass (be it loopers, pedals, or switchers) that they always pop. The pop is noticeable w/ no other noise or instruments, but is impossible to hear during a song.
Hey Jamey, Watched your video a bunch, bought your cd good stuff. But i was planning my rig, stuck between the RJM rack mount stuff and the musicomlab stuff, decisions decisions.
I love the musicom! Cant say enough good things about it. Having your midi controller on your board instead of in a rack is definitely less to lug around, is simpler, and cheaper. Rack stuff is cool...but it adds alot more to deal w/.
The hilton was rolling off some of my lows and adding some harsh high frequencies to my tone. The hilton was a nice step up from the Ernie ball but still not as transparent and smooth as the goodrich
I still have the rockett pedals! They are great...i just like switching things up and trying new things for different tours. Currently our other guitar player is using them and has them on his board.
Very cool gear Jamey.... I caught you guys at the Atlanta show this past week and met you afterwards. You and the band are class acts for sure and wish you guys all the best. Could you give a bit more detail on the true bypass/midi unit. I just got a TC G System for effects and use the loop feature for overdrive/distortion pedals. May consider bringing my pedals back if I could find a good switcher. Thanks...... Todd
I meant his music...thequality of it....his tone ect...Hell eric can play 90% better that most of us...I was just wondering what you thought of his gear. tone, musicanship ect...
The goodrich is incredible! Perfect for swells. I do alot of swells w/ it and my memory man. I dont know how much the pots cost...but i will tell you it blows the Ernie Balls out of the water!!!! The EB volume pedals are TONE KILLERS! This is transparent as you can get.
Jamey thanks for posting you clips but I would like to point out that a Klon only lists at $349 from the builder.
They DO go for silly prices on eBay that's true but I think it's a bit of a disservice to Bill the builder for people to think that he's charging anything like the $800 you mention on your clip.
Jamey the wait is on average about 3 -4 months on average from what I'm reading on the forums. That's what I waited for.
Mostly though I wanted to clarify that the builder is not massively over-charging the way it was implied. What foolish people are prepared to pay for an overdrive pedal on eBay is another matter entirely.
Hi Jamey. Funny, I had purchased a MusicomLab EFXII and was browsing the web for videos on how to set it up (midi) and came across your pedal board demo. That's when I first heard of GRO - which I have come to enjoy - congrats on the music! Anyways, I said "funny" cause I noticed my gear is similiar to yours: EFXII, TC nova mod, Pitchfactor, and I'm currently working on a Jazzblaster with Matt and Don. So, did your EFX come with blue LEDs? keep it up!!! Regards from Brazil, Fred
Are you serious??!!! WOW we have pretty much the same set up! Haha pretty random!
But i will say i like your taste in gear! You are going to be thrilled w/ the Jazzblaster! Its amazing. We used that guitar more on our record than any other guitar.
How do you use the DD-20 and Memory Man? Love the Memory Man sound. Do you go through the effects loop of the amp? Thanks for posting this info man. Peace, -G.
I use the DD-20 for anything that is not programmed in the midi controller w/ the eventide. i.e. if we play a random song, a jam, or a spontaneous cover, and i need a good easy quick tap tempo delay.
The Memory man i use for a lot of ambient stuff. Its a beautiful pedal.
Me personally i am not a fan of effects loops. Most good low wattage simple boutique amps, and vintage amps dont even have them. I think delay in an effects loops sound kinda sterile. I like the sound of it hitting my amp in the front end. I also use my delays at the end of my chain b/c i like how my different drives and effects hit them.
Yep...got one a few weeks back. Love it!!! Had to cut the treb boost a bit. That tone knob is misleading. Had no idea it was a treb boost until I had time to really mess with it. That and the Hellbender are my main od pedals. U guys are #23 this week! Way to go!
DUDE your pedalboard is sick!! very good pedals! i liked the ice pedal but I was more looking forward that boiling point, is there a chance you could make a video showing how it sounds and what different sounds can you get out of it? there aren't many reviews in youtube or elsewhere...thx! and keep rocking!
Feel free to shoot me any gear or techy questions. I have had a TON of pedals and amps over the years, and have gotten to do A LOT of trial and error. I have had alot of people help me along the way and show me things, and would love to be able to do the same
I'm not a guitar geek but I found this interesting. Never knew guitar playing was so complex. I thought it was all about strumming and picking the right notes and chords, but now I see how you can create different sounds and textures. I like the lush pedal the best. Thanks for the lesson and you're incredibly cute.
where's the gear video with your electric rhythm guitarist????

The hilton was rolling off some of my lows and adding some harsh high frequencies to my tone. The hilton was a nice step up from the Ernie ball but still not as transparent and smooth as the goodrich

Jamey where is your ROCKETT PEDALS ? )
bolomsa 2 years ago
I still have the rockett pedals! They are great...i just like switching things up and trying new things for different tours. Currently our other guitar player is using them and has them on his board.

Hey Jamey!
Awesome rig, curious as to what size your Trailer-Trash pedalboard is? Is it their big 30"x18" size they offer or a custom size done for you?
Thanks!

Todd

Jamey -
How do you like your Goodrich? Is it the L-10K? Does it stay in place or does it move?
Thanks!

How is the goodrich treatting you. Is it active or passive? How do you use it? Is it good for volume swells? I heard the pots are cheap... thanks!
777jordan 2 years ago
The goodrich is incredible! Perfect for swells. I do alot of swells w/ it and my memory man. I dont know how much the pots cost...but i will tell you it blows the Ernie Balls out of the water!!!! The EB volume pedals are TONE KILLERS! This is transparent as you can get.

Jamey thanks for posting you clips but I would like to point out that a Klon only lists at $349 from the builder.
They DO go for silly prices on eBay that's true but I think it's a bit of a disservice to Bill the builder for people to think that he's charging anything like the $800 you mention on your clip.
Realfi 2 years ago
Nothing against the builder. He's a smart buisness man and has made a great pedal. He has a good understanding of supply and demand.
It is $349 for a pedal from him. But thats only if you want to WAIT 6-9months for a pedal! IF you want a klon tomorrow its $600-900.
jameyice1 2 years ago
Jamey the wait is on average about 3 -4 months on average from what I'm reading on the forums. That's what I waited for.
Mostly though I wanted to clarify that the builder is not massively over-charging the way it was implied. What foolish people are prepared to pay for an overdrive pedal on eBay is another matter entirely.

what kind of wah is that? ive never seen a cry baby with that color enclosure.
lzsthjp 2 years ago
Its a limited edition Copper Crybaby 535q. I think they made less than 100 of them.

Regards from Brazil, Fred
fs2o 2 years ago
Are you serious??!!! WOW we have pretty much the same set up! Haha pretty random!
But i will say i like your taste in gear! You are going to be thrilled w/ the Jazzblaster! Its amazing. We used that guitar more on our record than any other guitar.

How do you use the DD-20 and Memory Man? Love the Memory Man sound. Do you go through the effects loop of the amp? Thanks for posting this info man. Peace, -G.
gottfriedbrux 2 years ago
I use the DD-20 for anything that is not programmed in the midi controller w/ the eventide. i.e. if we play a random song, a jam, or a spontaneous cover, and i need a good easy quick tap tempo delay.
The Memory man i use for a lot of ambient stuff. Its a beautiful pedal.
jameyice1 2 years ago
@jameyice1 Agreed on the DMM. Ever tried the Skreddy Echo?
cosmogang 1 year ago
Me personally i am not a fan of effects loops. Most good low wattage simple boutique amps, and vintage amps dont even have them. I think delay in an effects loops sound kinda sterile. I like the sound of it hitting my amp in the front end. I also use my delays at the end of my chain b/c i like how my different drives and effects hit them.

mattvanyguitar 2 years ago
thanks matt! You ever play one before??
jameyice1 2 years ago
Yep...got one a few weeks back. Love it!!! Had to cut the treb boost a bit. That tone knob is misleading. Had no idea it was a treb boost until I had time to really mess with it. That and the Hellbender are my main od pedals. U guys are #23 this week! Way to go!

man a klon clone . woo how much did that set u back and how close is it to a klon... i would love that pedal
vanisher16 2 years ago
DUDE your pedalboard is sick!! very good pedals! i liked the ice pedal but I was more looking forward that boiling point, is there a chance you could make a video showing how it sounds and what different sounds can you get out of it? there aren't many reviews in youtube or elsewhere...thx! and keep rocking!

You need the Eventide Modfactor instead of that weak sounding TC.
cosmogang 2 years ago
I am actually pretty happy w/ the TC. Been a great pedal! I have never gotten to mess w/ the modfactor, but my other eventides are awesome.
But the TC is great for me...if it aint broke, dont fix it.

Big fan of the TC stuff! Thanks for the comment. We have a couple voice lives and nova delays as well. Great stuff!

Ah, cool! Glad you like our gear!
If you like the VoiceLive - be sure to check out TC Helicon's current promotion (Win up to 5 VoiceTone pedals). Check their website for more info :).

Feel free to shoot me any gear or techy questions. I have had a TON of pedals and amps over the years, and have gotten to do A LOT of trial and error. I have had alot of people help me along the way and show me things, and would love to be able to do the same

i like the ice pedal too

Yeah that Ice pedal is sick... just like the rest of your board. How does the Flex Drive compare to the Boiling Point?

I would LOVE to. But i accidentally left it at show in New York : (
a $250 mistake!

Cool guitar, Jamie!!! Very interesting for geeks who don't understand all that stuff-didn't know it was so complicated!!
breadmom1 2 years ago
I'm not a guitar geek but I found this interesting. Never knew guitar playing was so complex. I thought it was all about strumming and picking the right notes and chords, but now I see how you can create different sounds and textures. I like the lush pedal the best. Thanks for the lesson and you're incredibly cute.
