My parents came from Greece 3 decades ago in order to advance with their PhD's as marine biologists. From the very day I was born I already know this was the right land for me to live, love and prosper. We always had contact with Maori workers and they would always present some aspects of their culture. Now as an Anthropology student, I can't wait for an opportunity to learn the languages of our brothers and true countrymen! Tēnā tātou katoa!

Humans are all built the same way their just exposed to different environments and therefore develop their culture accordingly. Actually there are some Maori traditions that didnt come here by Waka. The term "Tangata Whenua" doesnt mean "people from the land" it actually means "people of the land". Our culture is founded on the landscape, as such we are really "of the land" spiritually and those who were always here, those Maori whose traditional origins come from the earth, belong to the whenua.

Humans are all built the same way their just exposed to different environments and therefore develop their culture accordingly. If any group of humans had started in England they would have developed in the same way and eventually found their way to other isolated areas of the world and colonsied them.

The 19th century British could've easily taken these islands by force. Britian allocated less than 2% of her forces to the entire Pacific and had genocide been her intention it woud've been a formality. Actually there are some Maori traditions that didnt come here by Waka. The term "Tangata Whenua" doesnt mean "people from the land" it actually means "people of the land". Our culture is founded on the landscape, as such we are really "of the land" spiritually and those who were always here, those Maori whose traditional origins come from the earth, belong to the whenua.
