  • i really like your tempo, a lot of people play it much too fast and it looses the feeling of traveling by gondola in Greece. Great work!

  • Super slow............. But u still have mistakes, I think u can do better!

  • It's extremely bad ass that u can play this without sheets

  • @Kocochocolate It's only 2 pages. LOL Anyone can remember it. (maybe not everyone)

  • I absolutely this. There is no such thing as "too slow" or "too fast" - it is played how it is played.

  • honestly i didn't like ur playin man..sorry ..u can do it better

  • You did way better than a lot of other people! I love the tempo and your trills were excellent, just it's too perfectly standardized to express the emotion hidden in this song. You still did a great job though.

  • still as the venetian night?thanks. nice

  • yes slow! why not? very nice.

  • I really like the temp you're playing this!! I don't like the song as much when its played faster. Nice job!!

  • i like it this tempo:) I LOVE THIS PIECE!!!!!

  • mine is faster..hahahah..much faster..xD

    but it's cool.. :)

  • you should add the paddle more often

  • awesome job! im learning this piece right now and i am looking at yours as an example to follow because i like your way of playing it :) great job!

  • this is amazing, 5/5, no words to explain this piece.

  • "it's too slow" whatever. I like it. This is your interpretation. Keep it.

I find mine is toooooo fast haha. But lovely work.

    Great work. :-D

  • Thank you ChiefBoo.

  • Pleaze call me Chief haha jks. You're welcome.

  • it is too slow!!!!!!!

  • IT IS!

  • kay!! no need for capital words!!

  • you dont play very good... i will play this song the summer and i thnk i play it better than you! sorry!

  • Good for you, I think he plays it well and I think you need a new job.

  • I'm learning to play this! It's really deep, lol.

  • beautiful. im going to learn it how to play. : )

  • I just learned to play it!!!

    :)

and actually I think that in this song you have to give an impression of a boat that's in a black water, sliding swiftly on it.

So you must really try working on the left hand, the one that's giving the beat.

    :)

    good luck

  • im learning to play this song now.. I dont really get what the song means. mind explaining it to me? it would help a lot.. I cnt really express my feelings well in the song. you played it well.

  • well, think of a gondola which goes on the water. the left hand is doing the gondola.its hard but very beautiful...(i play it now)

  • where's your video?

  • i dont have uploaded any video. why?

  • For me this is more like a love song.. first it starts with the love of the one you love, and suddenly she(he) dies and you mourn his(her) death, and finally you get angry and idk.. maybe just cry a lot while the whole thing fades out.

  • nice song

  • excelente , saludos desde Lima Perú

  • Gracias mi amigo desde Lima!

  • podras enviarme la partitura si no fuera tanta molestia ??

    mi correo fernandopanta@hot

    Gracias de antemano

  • Thanks for your comment. A slow motor boat . . . that was pretty funny. I'll re-record it sometime.

  • Umm.. You have really great control over your fingers, but for me this does not give me a picture of a rocking boat. It should be a give speed and take speed piece. I just think that your tempo is a little too constant, and try and give it a kind of swaying sensation like ship. This kind of reminds me of a motor boat. Very nice trills though. I

  • i cried.

you are so amazing. I played this song, and it was a shorter version. I really want to learn how to play this one. its so beautful.

  • Thank you. Good luck on your endeavor, and let me know when you post your video.

  • magnifique !

  • That was beautiful. I am inspired to try to learn it. It is so helpful to be able to hear others play the pieces we would like to play, thank you for posting.

  • This is one of the best playing of this I've heard in YouTube.. :}

  • technically, this was perfectly played. but i felt like there was no feeling in this piece. maybe more dynamics. in that middle part where you're supposed to gradually crecendo, be a bit more passionate. otherwise beautifully played. i love your trills.

  • thanks so much for this video!I thought this piece had to be played VERY fast,so I always wondered why it was such a challenge to play this peice. Now I know why...it is meant to be played slow.THANKS SO MUCH!!! =)

  • Beautiful!!! I will be playing this for my church on Friday. I like hearing others play the pieces I play as well. We're having a Valentine's dinner at church and they wanted me to play something that sounds "romantic". I will also be playing Nocturne in E Minor by Chopin. Great job!

  • pianochick1: thanks much for commenting. I agree that this boat song is a fitting piece for Valentine's evening. Just close your eyes and picture navigating the Grand Canal on that gondola with your special one . . . Good luck on your performance.

  • Wouw whata grand piano!

    Is it yours?

     p.s. watch my video

  • Thanks. Yes, this Yamaha C-3 is my prized possession. I watched your video. Good playing, but you can benefit from less pedaling and better coordinating your pedaling with the changes of chords. Also, soften your hand touch and play more legato in the lef-hand part and let your right hand bring out and shape the melody.

  • wow really nice

I prefer this time.. it's not too slow for me :)

    just very beautifull :)

    keep playing

well done!! (did you ever heared the interpretation of SYLVIA CAPOVA? i think she's the best)

  • F4sT:

Thanks for checking my vid out. No, I haven't heard Capova's rendition.

  • check my videos i just add her version.. it's so nice.. i know u'll love it and lean lot from her! ^__^

  • Thanks so much for adding Capova's clip. Indeed it's a superb reading of the piece. Her rubato is done with good taste.

  • That was brilliant.

  • I think that this is a beautiful piece and interpretation. Continue playing.

  • Trop froid !

    Jeux trop mecanique !

  • This is a beautiful song...

I also play a gondala song by burgmuller

  • Its much too slow. The piece is marked Allegretto, which means slightly fast (but slower than allegro). The tempo is supposed to be lively, yet calm. You won't find a single recording of it by a concert pianist that goes more than 3:00. Usually the timing is between 2:40 and 2:55.

  • Agreed, this is a little slow, but 3:00 would be the very minimum run time if you were trying to play allegretto, which is 120-130 bpm.

However, I think that while our friend is not a concert pianist he is still making a wonderful effort.

    Keep it up!

  • Thanks rcschumann and LanceK713 for your comments. That was just a phase I was going through when I recorded it. I deliberately chose a more laid-back tempo. It better suited me at the time. (to be continued in the next message...)

  • (Cont. ) I give approval to a wide variety of tempi set for a piece rendered by different artists. The metronome shouldn't rule theworld of interpretations. Yes the word interpretation suggests subjectivity and that's the beauty of music-making. It would be awful boring to go to a concert with anticipation a certain piece should be played at certain tempo. I like surprises. But I do respect your take.

  • Thanks rcschumann for the comment. I'd like to record it again sometime.
