@thebigtortuga Most elite lifters never have a problem racking the bar in the clean, it's standing or the Jerk that's the issue. For beginners, it's a different story.
@BROZKNOWS I wouldn't consider a beginner, per se, but I haven't had much coaching in the C&J before. For someone at my level (125kg best max, done at 87 kg), who now weights about 90 kg, is it atypical for the jerk to be more difficult? Even though I've cleaned 125kg (I've never had a heavier FS than this, either), my best C&J is 15 KG less at 110. Probably just a jerk technique issue?
@pulzrocks2 size doesn't necessarily correlate to strength. strength is all about how how many fibers you can set off at one time in your muscles. strength training is about training specifically to make, in the broadest of terms, your nervous system more efficient at a certain movement. search tom martin. you don't see bodybuilders performing these feats…
hey broz, i know you say that random periods of struggling and feeling weak are normal. are these periods usually also associated with an unusual amount of pain/soreness or stiffness particularly in the hips when trying to reach the bottom? Just wondering because despite no prior injuries and no current injuries this seems to happen at random every once in a while.
broz, i can only bench press 77 kg's for 1 rep after more than 5 years of consistent training. please fucking help me....all i wanna do is be able to bench more than 100 kg's and i'll be happy.
Hey coach Broz, how should an average guy (not training to compete) training deadlift once a week, train deadlift i.e how many sets and reps? Please respond, squats are almost catching up to my deadlifts :/
@BROZKNOWS Thanks, but how many sets and reps do you recommend for the deadlift? I am currently doing 4 sets with 3-4 reps, and sometimes a little lighter weight and 6 reps. The same with squats by the way.
Aaaaand I am also looking forward to the new website!
@lastpakbe the BS and DL should be about the same. the ratio FS:BS is waaaaaaay different based on leverages, height, weight, etc. I never found a correlation between FS to DL.
@BROZKNOWS oh ok so is the philosophy behind the way you incorporate deadlift into the training sort of like just used for new lifter to stimulate their body with heavier way to get them where they need to be?
Lol i seen this 14 year old today at the ymca reppin this but he trains for powerlifting like his dad i find olympic weightlifting though much better nice work dude
watching these videos from broz gym and reading about the training methodology is steering me towards doing frequent, low rep/ high weight type of training . This type of training is really where its at . Gaining high relative strength, strong connective tissues and an efficient nervous system beats the hell out of conventional hypertrophy type training any damn day of the week.
Coach, I've read that you and your students dont do deadlifts very often (especially in comparison to the other lifts). When you do however, do you take it "light" on the squatting for that day? Say only once or even not at all for that particular day.
Very impressive! What are your thoughts on dropping the weight after completing the lift vs. lowering it in control? I've heard many powerlifters say that most deadlifting injuries occur when people try to lower the weight slowly and that the weight should be dropped then reset your body for the following rep.
This strength is insane.

i remember on another video you said you don't have your athletes deadlift on a regular basis. why not? wouldn't it build base strength?

Broz,
How can exceptionally 'small' guys with very little hypertrophy at all deadlift so much weight? Is there no correlation of strength with size?
I weigh 85 kilos, and I can only deadlift 140 kg for a rep.

@centhocklars01 the stiffness is normal when you are new to ATG squats for volume.

@Hedphelym bodyweight? 1RM Squat?
BROZKNOWS 3 months ago
@BROZKNOWS
bodyweight is 60 kg's at 5'9.
best squat i've ever done is 80 kg's although i've done 75 kg's for 10 once. i can barely squat my bodyweight at the moment.
i would seriously fucking cry of happiness if i could bench and squat over 100 kg's without having to gain that much weight.
Hedphelym 3 months ago
@Hedphelym start squatting daily, drop benches for 4 months.
when your squat goes up, so will your bench. squat 130, then you will bench 100 within 2 weeks after benching again
BROZKNOWS 3 months ago
@BROZKNOWS
i'll do it. thanks so much for the reply. i'll even keep a log somewhere.
Hedphelym 3 months ago
@BROZKNOWS I know the advice you gave him was correct, but why exactly does increasing the squat lead to a higher bench?

Well, 3reps @ 140 means about a 1RM of 150kg FS. This means a difference of 20kg between FS & DL1RM... Shouldn't that be higher, like ~50kg ?
