Psychiatry, like all sciences, is a work in progress. Science moves in increments. Just because there are diseases, doesn't mean that there has to be cures. Psychiatric treatments usually work, but it isn't perfect.

I used to not like psychiatry either, but trust me, scientology is far worse. In fact, once you find out enough about scientology, you start to have an appreciation for psychiatry.

It was only when they began to run afoul of folks like the FDA (the e-meter) that they changed course and began clothing their practitioners in priestly garb and using the eight-armed cross as their emblem, hence the shift to "Scientology."
Not a fan of either but I'd have to guess scientology is the lesser of two evils in this case - Psychiatrists are fucking scumbags.

I thought "churches" usually had peaceful agendas, you know, like feeding the hungry, building homes for the poor, helping people.
The only thing scientology does is help themselves into peoples pocketbooks and destroy their "perceived enemies."
