I quite agree with the list, but maybe "Under The Bridge" is better than "Californication" and also may I recommend "Goldfinger" by Ash and "One" by U2 and maybe something from The Smashing Pumpkins too.
@Mistersamsam omg, you're a piece of sh*t. I BET You've never listened to faith no more, alice in chains, soundgarden, mudhoney, pearl jam, mother love bone, green river etc. so how can you judge?! Nirvana is NOT the best grunge band of 90's, In my opinion Alice in Chains is. Faith no more is not grunge, but it's kickass too. I agree with andybirger, that they became great couse of Kurt suicide...
@Flypside61 ummmm deffinatly not, i was there and they were already huge!! Nirvana was like the #1 talked about band, Kurt was seen as a teen icon, its also one of the reasons he "killed himself". couldnt handle the pressures..... if u dont believe me then acually do some reserch
Guys, you really don't know: faith no more, grant lee buffalo, rage against the machine, jack white, porno for pyros, black crowes, living colour, primal scream, cranberries, megadeth, anthrax, mudhoney, morcheeba, jane's addiction, violent femmes?
@Mistersamsam Ok, I can tell now that you're nothing but a fanboy. If you like Nirvana so good, you should also love Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Faith No More and Mudhoney.
@andybirger I should shouldn't I? Ok maybe Nirvana wasn't the very best band of the 90's but I don't really think the bands you listed were either. If the front man hadn't blown his head off I really think they would have been the best though..
@Mistersamsam Actually, they became great BECAUSE Kurt blew his head. If every other singer of the 90's would have killed themselves, Nirvana would be just another band with others.
@andybirger Ok now your talking shit.. Those bands are nobodies, Nirvana had way more followers when Kurt was alive. When Nirvana came all the shitty bands came out of the woodwork trying to cash in on their success. *cough*pearl jam*cough*
@Mistersamsam You're telling me that other grunge bands are copying Nirvana? Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Green River, Stone Temple Pilots, Tad, L7, Melvins and should I go on? All had their first records out before Nirvana. You're right about Pearl Jam which came after Nirvana, but the members had been playing Grunge before Nirvana (In Mother Love Bone). Don't you try to shit on me, that Nirvana was the first Grunge band ever.
@andybirger I never said they came before Nirvana.. I said a lot of shitty bands came out of the woodwork after Nirvana, you were the one who automatically associated "shitty" with that whole list of bands. :<. And you can't deny that Nirvana was the one who thrust grunge into the world.. not saying they invented it..
@Mistersamsam Well, you said that all the other bands were shitty. And maybe Nirvana was the one who thrust grunge into people's knowlidge, but certainly wasn't the best grunge band.
@andybirger Well what else am I supposed to think? Nirvana in their time kicked these guys asses with sales, overall fan base, time on top of the charts, concerts and I believe had a far better sound..And they ended with a bang without getting boring.
@Mistersamsam But I'm just saying, that if any other good Grunge band would have gotten big record deal, they would have been very famous too. That's the way of music, no matter how good you are. It's just the fame.
To be honest Creep wasn't Radioheads greatest song of the nineties but it was definitely their most famous, but i think Just or Street Spirit would have been better but that's just my opinion
@ffffffffffffffff900 lol, put down the crack pipe. go read some nirvana lyrics they make shit fer sense, well some make sense but not all, nirvana certainly does not have the best lyrcs of the 90's
Why the fuck is everyone complaining about this list? If you care all that much, go find every single song from the 90's and see where they were on the charts or some shit to make a fucking list. Then, since you are all so offended, upset and agitated by this person's choice of songs/bands you should be content and shut the fuuuuuck uuppp
@magicman1215 If the bands were good, how did the songs suck? If you truly thought they were good, you wouldn't care and you wouldn't think any of their songs sucked, lmfao..
I agree with the choice of Smells Like Teen Spirit. It's the song that ushered in the grunge movement of the 90s. Even though the quality of Nirvana was demonstrated better in other pieces it was Teen Spirit that set the tone for the entire decade.
Not all music in the 2000's sucked, just most of the MAINSTREAM music does. They're is some really fantastic music, but it's just not what you hear on the radio. :/ it would be nice if they would PLAY the good music.
