Autsch - well it crashed like the original helicopter of the series. After using for the series the real helicopter was sold to Germany and used as a rescue helicopter but was destroyed in a crash.....
What you really need is a teetering hinge on the head and flapping hinges on the grips. These are what a real two blade helicopter have. The teetering hinge allows the heli to sway in relationship to the rotor disk and helps balance any dis-symmetry of lift. The flapping hinges allow the blades some upward movement. Rc heli's don't have these parts which is why the require some sort of stabilization whether mechanical like flybars or electrical like gyros.
@seiroph Yes, fully articulating rotor heads are rather versatile and responsive. However, larger full-scale helis often do incorporate stabilization devices. And, smaller full-scale helis incorporate living/breathing gyros, also known as the pilot....
Hi...the blade grips are the old ones ( with flybar heads), isn't difficult to fly in no wind or calm days, but with moderate winds is not easy at all.
Take a look at my videos, lot of helis 450 size flybarless without satbilization, even this one in a video two months after crash, same heli in a nice scale flight.
@krumrick2 Yeah, for sure. Using no stabilization certainly isn't impossible. Although usually people that don't use stabilization put on 4 blade heads to help tame it a bit. I'm certain my thumbs wouldn't be fast enough to control a two bladed like yours.
Will check er out, please send me the link to the flight. Just messin with ya on the video. I love airwolf, I still watch it on netflix even though its a stupid show. I get tired of the lighting effects. I wish I was a better pilot. I would love to have a replica body for my RC heli but Im sure it would bust up to fast. Yes, my worst crashes are when I come in backwards. Ive learned to flip right around when I see that coming but if I dont have any altitude then its by by tail rotor.
Did you remove the guide pins near the middle of the head? What exactly causes the upper swashplate to rotate? It seems like the blade links... which is bad.
Yepp...that is nice, I love to have one of these old helicopters, put to fly and make a good video about, thats is my dream and maybe a future project for 2012.
@ApacheArmament69 You missed a point, The 3 axis gyro permit flying even unstable blades. 30 years ago, Kavan was selling flybarless head and it was flying without even a good gyro for the tail. The stability of the blades is necessary, not the 3 axis gyro. I fly multiblades heads on 4 helis (450 and 500) without any 3 axis gyro and they fly well, but must needs to be flown all the time.
@krumrick2 hey man what counts is you sorted the problem out and got it back in the air as good as new thats more important than how good you fly. well done mate.
hi mate...fantastic fix again well done...what would be a good retract system for an airwolf 600 size heli.thot i'd ask as you seem to be a pro at this.thanks
Nice question, usually I use only Thin CA Glue with Fiver Cloth ( light grade one), as well I use the CA Acelerator, when the damage ( or modification) is large then I use Epoxi Resin and fiver cloth high grade ( thick cloth).
After repair the damage in the small areas I use Medium CA with the Acelerator then sand to make a new strong and nice surface ready to paint, this is a fast way fast to do !!!.
...No need...is all OK!, was a good experience repair after the crash. In my channel there is another long video in flight a month before this crash, flew really nice.
Don't forget subscribe to my channel, need your support to post news every 15 days.
The servo broken in the fall, was not the problem, I just put a new Speed an all went well before, I have another video in flight, and you can see is all ok, even in fast forward flight...

@ApacheArmament69
but was not the reason of the crash, even without FBL unoit this is nice to fly in NO WIND CONDITIONS, really smooth and predictable.
The problem was an cheap bad servo ( elevator servo, note in the video how the heli drop on tail).
