Flash Gordon seemed a bit rubbish compared to Mandrake, Lothar or Phantom.

Lets see now, Mandrake has magic, Lothar has awesome strength and technical skills and Phantom had animal empathy and magical strength.

Flash Gordon can fly a jet with great skill. Useful, but it seems a bit crap compared to what everyone else brings to the table.

The only bit from this I could remember before seeing it just now was the line about Mandrake. As a child I always wanted to be a master of magic, spells and illusion in order to make my enemies crumble in fear and confusion. Also, top hats and capes are awesome :)

I assure you violence is not a problem for this cartoon: the 90's-to-today ones have much more punches on the face, guns and even deaths. They don't bring it because of issues like time slots in cable channels, market researchs showing little interest of target audiences and (maybe) property rights.

These classics from the golden age of kid's shows needs a channel of their own where they can thrive again.

Man I miss the 80's so much. Every cartoon was well drawn, and had actual songs that go with their intros.... Not like most of today's cartoons, where the animation is some sloppy crap, or CGI based... Without comic book characters like The Phantom, Mandrake the Magician, The Shadow, and Flash Gordon, there would be no Superman or The Batman... and in turn there wouldn't be any other superheroes since Supes and Bats, are basically the fathers of silver age and bronze age comic book characters.

I miss truly unique toons. I wish The Hub, WGN Retro, or Cartoon Network would focus on getting blocks of these to air on Saturday & Sunday Mornings. Imagine the ratings they could get.
