  • Those people who says pro do not use the wrist for forehand are pretty crazy... Okay evidence? go to Djorkovic free lesson and also Boris Becker legendary lesson both talk about wrist usage. Djorkovic said when he wants to add spin he said he use wrist.. becker said when speed up the racket speed he uses wrist..

People how can you speed up the racket head speed without wrist? so you can have broken wrist and still can play tennis??

I also have Hewitt talked about his forehand and said Wrist

  • classic nick bolletieri forehand

  • He needs to hit harder to beat top guys like nadal, he lost to nadal because he wouldnt flatten out the ball when he had his chances

  • I agree with @cj397 You don't add a wrist rotation in that kind of form.

  • dude lightning fast haha

  • crazy forehand but its already killing his wrist at such a young age

  • @abujabi

he's not really using his wrist though..

  • @Geno98 his wrist is the only body part used for that shot...

  • @NiggeliNG No.

  • @cj397 Yes.

  • @NiggeliNG No, you do not "USE" the wrist at all, it's a kinetic chain starting with leg power to trunk/core rotation to hip/shoulder rotation. Then, the racket follows behind kind of a Slingshot into the ball.

he is not forcing the wrist whatsoever.

  • @cj397 no, federer's forehand is a kinetic chain, but nishikori adds the wrist rotation

  • @NiggeliNG there's no "wrist rotation" it's just the aesthetics of the full western grip nishikori is using that makes it look different from fed's

  • @NiggeliNG I completely agree with you. Look at his forehand now(2011) doesn't use his wrist to generate spin and power anymore.

  • i love his racquet head speed and the use of his whole body

  • ...great player i hope he comes back from injury

  • 0:19 does anyone who know Federer's forehand watch this and NOT very quickly see several similarities in how he generates power on the forehand?

  • wow it's so freaking fast

    what the...

  • Watch it again. His use of his trunk rotation is VERY close to that of Federer.

He rotates his trunk really fast before his hitting arm even begins to accelerate at all.

Then he abruptly STOPS his trunk completely in order to transfer that big power into the hitting arm.

The wrist and forearm power is merely icing on the cake.

  • Wristy forehand. I've seen it live a few times and I gotta say it's pretty huge. Can whack winners all over. Takes alot out of the body unfortunately.

  • Perhaps it relies on a lot of trunk rotation, but we all know, the energy generated from trunk rotation far outweighs the amount of energy from the wrist and forearm.

Kei is not a large man, but he uses his trunk extremely well. That is how he generates big power from a relatively small frame.

  • i want that sounddd

  • lol then every fucking pro should quit cause of "pain"

wow please stfu, that's a wind wiper motion forehand, it's not some "flare" special shit, it might be to idiots like you.

  • *sob sob*

keep crying lil mothabich, every top player gets injured, does that mean federer is playing tennis wrong cause he has back injuries? or roddick's forehand is wrong cause he recently got wrist injury? stfu, bring ur vagina out of this competitive sport.

  • let me call federer or gulbis or djokovic, tell em to stop flicking their lil wrists cause mr.pussy king greatestcreation909, who thinks he knows shit about tennis says so :(

  • lmao, no one agrees with you, his forehand swing is incredibly nice, there is no "wrong" about it you tennis-philistine.

his forehand is incredibly normal, many top players hit it in a similar way such as Gulbis, short compact flicks that is difficult for opponents to read.

man, talking with you is fucking pointless, you are the biggest pussy i ever seen, i bet you can't excel at anything worrying about your huge vagina bleeding in a public crowd.

  • @Greatest

FACT: Kei didn't have tennis elbow.. I don't know where you get this stuff.. Tennis elbow is where you tear a certain tendon in your arm, and if he had it, you would be correct in saying he was doing something wrong. However, He had a small stress fracture in his forearm.

I guess it is natural for most non-tennis playing people to assume that a tennis pro getting his elbow injured automatically equals "tennis elbow", but there are different types of injuries!

  • Thanks for the info, Greatest.

As for talking like a douchebag, who here has about 10 posts on this one movie with half of them at 5 thumbs down?

I didn't even provoke you, and you called me a douchebag. I ain't gonna stoop to your level, but you should seriously reconsider alienating people who are otherwise friendly and helpful just because you have to be right all the time and everyone else has to be wrong.

  • @GreatestCreation909 dude ur a dumbass shut up and quit embarassing urself

  • a ton of people jump

look at federer's forehands he jumps all the time

  • sometimes you put pressure/forse by jumping on forehand. tennis player does that

  • force that is

  • yea, it adds ur body weight into the shot, or if u twist ur body enough, it adds more spin.

  • you don't anything about tennis or any other sport (?) so you better shut your mouth if you don't like Kei. @ guiguitebeka

  • yea, it's called adding your body weight to the shot, it can increase your spin or your power or both at same time, depending on your control.

  • sad to hear that because of that he had an injury on his elbow tsktsk

  • Nishikori has a stress fracture on his right elbow! I hope it's not because of his forehand's flicky motion because it's a very pretty stroke.

  • His forehand is good. When I saw him, his backhand actually impressed me more. It was so rock solid and he could really improvise with it, hitting some really impressive half volley type shots right off the bounce putting some action on it. He was playing Ryan Sweeting and Ryan's forehand and serve looked way bigger. Especially his serve, Nishikori's serve is top 250. He needs to learn to serve like Rios because he'll never have heat. He just needs to mix it up better.

  • tic-toc, sounds like a freakin bullet man

  • Best forehand I've ever seen. It is sick.

  • damn that forehand is sick

  • dude his racket head speed is beast

  • his form is PEFECT!!!!!!

  • Great forehand nice follow through!!!!

  • wow he's hitting great and not even bendin his knees much

  • yea, it makes incredible disguise for your shots, your opponents won't know if you are about to do a big hit.

to do an incredible hit without even doing much knee bend leaves your opponents with less time to prepare and anticipate as well, and increases your readying time for the next return.
