pretty darn awesome man.Hope you don't mind if I ask a question bout the alesis kit.I am pretty much in the same boat(xcept less metal more acoustics with open tunings)as you and I spend the majority of my time recording my band..which is just me.now moved to an apt building so can no longer play my drums.Looking into the DM10 kit for use with software,but really concerned the kickdrum still might be too loud for my apt.Any insight on the acoustic volume of those pads?Im top floor of a highrise.
Yes, the pads are VERY noisy. However, I converted to mesh heads and it is now much less so. But stock, the mylar heads may prove WAY too loud for your situation. (I'm on the second floor myself.) The mesh head conversion was easy, quick, and didn't require anything more than swapping the head and a piece of foam.
@theotherpete Wow thanks for the quick reply.was def planning the conversion,really the only reason I was considering this kit because i figured the mylar was loud.its on sale right now so I've been trying to decide since I got home from work today.Still have worries that the kick drum even w the mesh because it'll still vibrate a bit might be felt/heard by the people below,but haven't had any complaints bout my tv or guitar which Im sure gets loud sometimes.I hate making decisions..damnit..
Thanks! Yes, lefties are tough to find, but nowadays it's MUCH easier than when I was growing up and learning to play. Actually, that Gibson in the video was my one and only electric for some 10+ years, until I discovered Ebay and Rondo music. Now there's so many lefties out there to choose from!
