...of course it's nicer than shinkansen and TGV. Beside of this the ICE-Velaro-Version is by far the fastest serial(!)-train in the world (350 km/h in daily use, Vmax >408km/h)
yes, there are worldrecords faster than the ICE... but there is a difference between WR under very special special conditions and the normal DAYLY USE of 350km/h of this german jewel...and its fast enough... :-D
@raghavpradeep Not quite, some say that maglev (including me) is not a train, because it doesn't ride on rails, so the fastest traditional train is the French TGV.
That's fast - cool with the speedometer to the passengers, I use too measure the speed with GPS when I go by train, it would bee fun to ride one of these.
It's useless to know the rated speed when you go by the train - it's not many tracks were they can't drive that speed, many drivers doesn't drive at maxspeed ether.
320 km/h between Frankfurt-Paris. The normal cruising speed of the new ICE-Velaro is 350 km/h in Spain. It's world record. No other train is actually able to do this.
Actually the walls are intended to protect from the noise of the trains passing by but I admit that they prevent animals from crossing the track as well :)
Or maybe I was unlucky to have ridden this nice train on the old tracks unknowingly...Because we came across freight trains every 10-15 minutes on the way...
I have been on such a train between Bonn and Halle and it hardly went 160 km/h when fastest. It sucked! I paid 120 Euro for a round trip that lasted 6 hours each way! DB kind of disappointed me...
I have been in such a train. Really strange feeling while driving at 300km/h. You can see PORSCHEs on the highway but you are 100km/h faster than the fast cars.
I travelled last year tousands of kilometers with the ICE.Most time just with the old 1st generation which is pretty..old.One time they changed train to one of the 3rd gen and this train really rules. The ICE makes germany littlebit smaller :)
It really does look nice. I am very fond of fast trains having been on the Shinkansen in April '06 and the TGV Duplex last summer. I'll have to make a trip to Germany before long, as I have very special friends living in Gunzenhaussen. In 1974 after a music course in Weikersheim,I actually travelled briefly on a steam engine and then on a fast electric to Frankfurt. Not as fast as the Ice3 !!
I loved our trip to Japan. We went on the Shinkansen 700 which is slightly slower at a little under 280 kph. It kept up a good average and was very comfortable. The Shinkansen 500 is better looking and it runs at 300 kph.We did a return trip to Kyoto in a day.Beautiful historic religious sites. We also took " the romancecar" train to Hakone. The driver sits upstairs. We stayed the night at the Fujyia Hotel. Wonderful gardens and blossoms;but the mist stopped us seeing Mount Fuji.
@cattleman: I also was in Japan and I also stayed at the Fujiya in Hakone and the mist stopped me too seeing Mount Fuji. What a coincidence.
But: If you think the Shinkansen is comfortable, you should really come to Germany and try the ICE! In a Shinkansen you get more people in less space. You will feel and see the difference when you try ICE. I really recommend it.
I certainly will travel to Germany and travel hopefully by the ICE 3 when I get a chance. I have very good German friends living in Gunzenhausen, so I must visit soon.I would love to travel on the ICE. How amazing you had the same problem with mist Toji85. Thanks so much for replying and telling me that.
muse + trains.... that's the best thing in the world!!!!! ;)

Japan's Nazomi knocks 350 kph..
China's (German) Shanghai Maglev can reach upto 430 k/h wid a test speed of 450 kmph..
Japan is still the world record holder with 581 kmph of it's Maglev.

Not quite true. TGV reached some 550 km/h. Nevertheless, in regular service it is a record.

@Cre7tiv I dont get it the TGV can do more and ever heard of maglev or transrapid

@Cre7tiv the speed record for a tgv is 570kph

The route on the inside of the train looks an AWFUL lot like the China Maglev and Japan Shinkansen routes...
THEFINALHAZARD 4 years ago
Well that's intended, so that the risk of crossing animals is minimized at speeds around 300kph. Compare it with the TGV

@UraeusAnkhAmon Look at vids especially form,t he passenger seciton of a Shinkansen, looks IDENTICAL to what it is at like 0:27

Gibt es auch Strecken in Deutschland, auf denen höhere Geschwindigkeiten gefahren werden? Soweit ich weiß, geht Köln-Frankfurt auch nur bis 300 km/h.
