  • Olympic gold medalist right there.

  • lol hes like omg wet NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • The crestie drowning isn't the point. It doesn't matter how deep the water is, the point is, you are scaring the crap out of the poor thing!! He doesn't know that he wont drown in the water, all he knows is that he's in water, he's not touching the bottom and he's frightened! Get that through your thick skull! He's not smart enough to know that he will be ok, he's a gecko!

  • Only a finger length deep are fucking stupid the water is still higher than the geckos height

  • you freaking morron! clearlly they hate the water so why keep putting them in!!!! and no they cant swim they will drown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you should NEVER put a crestie in that much water!!!!!!!!! you shouldnt even have the humidity in their cage that high (50-70%)..and they do need a daily drop in humidity(10-20%) or they get lung infections and die...how dumb can you be! you should not own geckos

  • And to the person saying that they would put their crestie in water to help with shedding, that's what misting them with a water bottle is for.

  • I would never ever make my crestie do anything that would clearly be causing him stress just for my entertainment or for an"experiment". Not cool.

  • Misschibimonster: First off all, my crestie doesn't try to get out of my hand when I hold him. He either sits there or, runs up to my shoulder and chills there for a while. 2nd, yes, cresties do bath in their water dishes, when THEY want to. I find this cruel because the crestie is clearly distressed being put into a tub of water. How would you feel if a giant hand came out of the sky, picked you up from whatever you were doing an put you into deep water just to see if you could swim?

  • In reply to the negative and rude feedback continued

Someone that is sick and cruel, is a person that purposely has deep water and drops them in and dunks them. And then doesn't pull them out when they tire, at least these guys have pads to pull them out instead of not and being even more frantic. People need to stop being ignorant peta jerks and realize the FACTS.

  • In reply to the negative and rude feedback continued

They lay in their water bowls all the time, and in the wild I'm sure they don't ignore swimming and their instincts all together because they haaaaate it. Boohoo. My water dragon, is a water dragon. Would you think she'd like being in water when I put her in it? No, she'd rather get out. That doesn't make me sick and cruel.

  • In reply to the negative and rude feedback continued

They aren't used to swimming, they do not have this big amount of water normally to their disposal. Therefor they are going to react to a foreign feeling. Now I'm not saying repeatedly do this it would stress them out, but over time they could get use to this. They wouldn't of been given the instinct to swim, if they weren't supposed to. And they can float and can swim.

  • In reply to the negative and rude feedback.

We must be cruel owners for trying to hold our cresties. Because if it's cruel for what she did because they seem to 'hate' it, then holding the cresties that react as if they 'hate it' must mean it's cruel treatment. When actually we all know why they try to get away from us, because they need to get used to us. Which is the same thing here with them swimming.

  • I applaud this video. It was very interesting, and I had always been wondering if they could swim or not. I'll definitely think about soaking any of my cresties and trying this with any of my calm ones, if any will be shedding soon.

  • @Reptiboy98 What about bearded dragons. Mine sink.

  • This is a disgrace. Have reported - does not take an animal expert to reaise these beautiful little creatures in your care are terrrified. They are not swimming they are fleeing for their lives.

  • @mossycowtube The point of the video clearly states do crested geckos swim. You say they are 'fleeing for their lives', well I believe in regards to 'fleeing for their lives' they are swimming.

  • it looks like its flying

  • try to notice how no matter how old each one goes in, they all can swim, whether by instinct

    or not, they didn't drown.

  • Good god, this is dusgusting. They must be swimming fast cos they hate it. very sad

  • @mossycowtube Or maybe because that's the only way their bodies are made to swim and get anywhere? They are frantic because they aren't used to being in that amount of water, not because they hate it. It's just like they aren't used to being handled.

  • 0:29 jesus christ has risen!

  • They did float, the mature ones did not like water. Maybe the are like cats?

  • He's good at floating!

  • imagine a crestie coming out of your plug hole ;)

  • I bought mine a bigger water dish and he loves swimming in it

  • Interesting video. They can swim better than I thought they could. They will never beat a Basilisk though ;).

    Dave from Davidsfinegeckos

  • @Geckosforlife51 They still won't beat a water dragon either xD

  • Almost ALL reptiles CAN swim, but making them is just plain torture :(

  • @Yas473 Is it torture when I make my bearded dragons go in the bathtub to? It's only torture if you repeatedly do it.

  • @Misschibimonster i MENT TO SAY PUTTING A CRESTIE IN WATER THAT DEEP IS PLAIN TORTURE (no offence)

  • For all the dislikes, it's not like you're shoving the cresties into the water. Looks to me like they're jumping of their own accord and swimming I: I don't understand what people are flipping a shit about, it's not like you're DUMPING them in.

  • @theskitzoone Exactly, and it's not like she has the water so deep they could flipping drown. Does it not make you people happy enough to know that they can swim? And that they aren't sinking? I'm sure that would make you all flip a tit. But this is ridiculous.

  • My crested gecko jumped into my cold cup of tea. He DID NOT SWIM!!!!

  • @BlackWinterDay88 Probably from the TEMPERATURE CHANGE SENDING HIM INTO SHOCK.

  • @theskitzoone it was neither hot nor proper cold. I think he couldn't swim because he couldn't in the mug. Poor thing. Keeping everything away from his viv now.

  • @BlackWinterDay88 If it wasn't cold then why did you say it was cold? The water temperature probably still shocked him, the same way water that isn't "cold" (60-70 degrees fahrenheit) will still shock YOU when you jump into it.

  • @BlackWinterDay88 That's a CUP of tea this is a SHALLOW amount of water(in a bathtub for that matter). Obviously if it jumps in it's going to SINK and spazz out and not swim. How is it supposed to swim in a freakin cup, if in the video it obviously had to have momentum just to swim fast enough going like a snake. That was a ignorant comment.

  • your a dick they dont like to swim

  • @reptilekeeper77 It's not that they don't like to swim. It's that it's a foreign sensation to them. Their water bowls aren't big enough to allow them to be in that much water. But you see them get in their bowls all the time. And I'm sure in the wild they swim all the time.

  • a tail less cresty looks like a frog

  • People; at least you now know they can swim so you dont have to be worried about your kid or someone putting them in water without knowing. and she watched whe whole time, so theres no way it could drown. the ones that floated didnt seem to mind the water, too, soo back off...!

  • Doesn't matter if it wont drown, they obviously are scared out of their wits that you're making them do that by the way they so quickly try to get out of the water. That's just cruel. You're a jerk.

  • @scaqskipscaggles Then it must be cruel that we try to hold them because they so quickly try to get out of our hands. But what do we do? We get them used to being held. That's the same thing with this. They AREN'T USED TO IT. They lay in their water bowls all the time, but obviously they never get a chance to have a large amount of water to their disposal to try and get in. In the wild I'm sure they don't just ignore their swimming instincts.

  • trying ot 2 be hatin

  • srry about that i dont mean it but they dont like it

  • bullshit you abuisiv gaylord man you are probubly pising it off

  • Comment removed

  • i would never let my crestie any were neer the !@$*&^% bath. That is pretty darn stressful for the gecko!!!!

  • Aww it was really cute and I lol'd so hard at how their back half and their tails get all floppy when they ninja swim but I'm pretty sure they dislike water (not hatin) mine hates the faucet :3 he crawls away like a pansy

  • Poor animals

At 2:55 I thought it was dead!

  • Bullshit they lose their tails when are sexually mature.

  • so cute

  • Shallow or not they could drown. These are not toys. They are living breathing animals.

  • did u just cut his tail off for an experiment??

  • @zzJURASSICxDYNOzz no he just got tailless. when they get so scared theyr tail drops as a defence

  • Just goes to show how light the babies are!!! ;)

  • I really fucking hate "Animal Activists". They don't know a damn thing about animals. I am sick and tired of hearing this every time I watch a crestie or hunting vid. If you don't like it, leave and shut up.

  • that is awesome! that is the most kick ass swimming technique ive ever seen!

  • c'mon guys. calm down. its not like she just dropped them in the water and walked away. she was right there, and was watching them the whole time. their fine, obviously.

  • ninja gecko walk on water. you should get the second to compete in the olympics

  • ninja gecko walk on water

  • If you think this is so mean, do you think his has never happened before in nature? they can obviously swim and appear to be fine.

  • have u ever thumb uped a comment even when it means the exact opposite of what u think?

  • /:(

  • You should be charged with 1,000,767657565765675758765678587576576556775565453211223355666666666666666666555765565556565654547654654654546564;6565;33333333333222222333' dollars

  • people he wont drown, even a bearded dragon, a desert animal who will probally barely see water, still has an instinct to swim and wont drown. Infact most reptiles do, including snakes and in this video its quite interesting because you can see a climbing sticky lizard using the back half of his body to swim, not his arms or tail. Infact he acts simular to what a snake would do in water. You can see the relationship here, and snakes used to have legs and would swim just like this years ago.

  • @IamMeUareYou I agree, they may be freaking out. But they don't normally go in that much water. How are they supposed to react like? They won't drown, didn't drown. Or there would of been a bigger uproar on here. The water was shallow and not like it was a whole 12 inches or even the bathtub full to the brim!

  • Your gecko is not a toy its a living creature that thought you loved him. C.R.U.E.L

  • i hate when somebody comments and say that my lizard cant swim what i have learn from my research ever lizard can swim they were all build for swimming incase of natrual causes

  • i hate when somebody comments and say that my lizard cant swim what i have learn from my research ever lizard can swim the were all build for swimming incase of natrual causes

  • Aw poor tailess crestie

  • @KHandMARIOfan Most Crested Geckos lose their tales from accidental action, it doesn't harm them in any way.. their tales are the most sensitive in gecko nature, or perhaps.. nature xD.

  • ITS DEAD

  • Ahah, that was awsome. they looked so cute swimming!

  • What color is the full grown adult crestie considered?

  • when they're floating i laughed it was so cute(:

  • lol idiots think a lizard will drown in a few inches of water in a few seconds while supervised by a person. plus they have toe pads to stick to the tub.

  • "some people on the farm are asking" ? lol

Thank you for test this for me :p Don't believe i'd be doing this anytime soon

  • "some people on the farm are asking" ? lol

  • @Poerana "some people in the forum are asking"

  • FUCK YOU YOU BITCH YOU COULD DROWN THEM AND POEPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY AND PUT IN THE ELECTRIC CHAIR

  • @candy5able Have you ever heard the expression making a mountain out of a molehill? Well, you've set a new record for it.

  • That can Kill it!!

  • I would never do this to my crestie...im pretty sure he'd bite me if i even tried.

  • Wow. Im sorry but what a stupid thing to do. Why on earth would you stick a poor cresty in water just to see if it can swim? What if they couldnt? did you really want to risk your Crested geckos life just to find out?! obviously they tried to swim out right away so they didnt like it. if they were in the wild and say they had to cross a puddle, they have the choice of avoiding it, but here you dont even give them a choice. Poor cresty

  • @RidingIsMahPassion Your an Idiot. She's seeing if they can or cannot because they didin't know. Shw was there to make sure they were alright. A gecko isn't going to down in after a few seconds exposure to water.

  • This is cute but very CRUEL! do NOT do this!

  • its no wonder one of your crested geckos have dropped their tails..

  • How about a foot less cressty

  • Comment removed

  • lmao

  • deeperwtaer please

  • dude that puts a lot of stress on them thats not good

  • I think that it is a good idea to see if they can swim but if they go out of the water you shouldn't put them back in, if they like it and there just sitting there i think its fine :)

  • lol

  • Well said, TheTysonORGORE . This was an experiment, the reptiles were in no way in harms way and the handler was there at every step. The experiment showed that Crested Geckos are capable of swimming if necessary.

  • I put my female in water and she went into massive shock. Compleatly limp. I was so scared. She is ok now tho

  • @ikuto2213 same thing happened with my gecko at first, but that's cuz its the first time it experiences swimming water, after a couple of minutes of me guiding it. it started floating by itself, body submerged and head above water and was just there relaxing and not moving, using only its lungs to float and balance itself.

  • IF GECKO COULD TALK YOUR WOULD BE SAYING "IM GONNA KILL YOU SO HARD YOUR GONNA DIE, BUT BEFOR YOU DIE IM GONNA TROW YOU IN BATHTUB FULL OF WATER!" oh and the second one you put in there it swam pretty good, but what kind of idiot put them in water! Thats like if the gecko said "I wonder if a human would disinagreat in lava, lets see"!

  • @poporules8 Is that before or after the Gecko asks what the hell you're talking about?

  • Not a good idea

  • okay she sees that the gecko just runs out yet she still tortures it to swim what an idiot

  • @Steak1388 You obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

  • That looks EXACTLY like my gecko! Gecko pals :D

  • you are idiot!

  • stop putting him back in there!!! obviously the first time around showed that he couldnt swim!!!

  • 2:44 it looks dead but then when she touches it its like bitch i tricked u i can climb an runs away lol

  • Some geckos seem to like the water, some don't.

Some humans like to swim, and again there are some that don't.

It's all natural, it's water at the end of the day, Why do you people think it is wrong?,

  • Any retards saying hell drown his crestie is fuked up because if you didnt notice they have water proof skin, and in the wild they always cross water.

and if you dont believe a breeder you can go suk a dick

  • @TheGuitarist4181 They have 'water proof skin' and that means they can't drown? Hmm.. they do have water proof skin, like humans do. Chuck a baby in water, it still drowns. Water proof skin as a reason for not drowning is illogical. It's terrifying you're a breeder.

  • @MyWorldIsPurple they will not drown because they will get to the side of the tub and get out, also if you didnt notice the water is swallow enough that they cant touch down on it, and their owner is going to help them if they have any difficulty. finally those are older experienced cresties, if you put a baby cresty (0-2mnts) they will most likely drown

  • @TheGuitarist4181 Well done. I agree. Back to what I actually -said-, they don't not drown because of water proof skin. We have water proof skin too..

  • @MyWorldIsPurple haha theguitarist guy never replied

  • @Yojon3000 That is true XD

  • Any retards saying hell drown his crestie is fuked up because if you didnt notice they have water proof skin, and in the wild they always cross water.

  • Uhm if you think he might drown the gecko your wrong crested geckos live in THE RAINFOREST its raining 24/7 they have to swim in live and the adult looked well adapted to swimming so shut up you retards

  • @MoNsT4RRZz yh ur right sam

  • OMG HE PUT A HACHLING IN THERE

  • CANT U TELL HE DOSNT WANNA BE IN THE WATER?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Just because a crested gecko can swim doesn't mean you should just toss it in the water. They would avoid this at all costs in the wild they hang out in trees FFS

  • This is just terrible.

  • @BlackScythe0 why? lol

  • thats really cool and cute :D

  • i wouldnt do this considering there tail isnt that great

  • Thats really intresting, like someone said the surface tension is amasing looks like they are nearly standing on top of the water. Don't listen to all these people saying your stressing them etc. They clearly not too bothered as I doubt they would have dived into the water in the first place if they couldnt swim, they are not stupid.

  • TheTysonORGORE is completely correct. Remember people, Crested Geckos have only been in "ownership" for a short period of time. Please take into consideration how they may behave in the wild., and their behavior in the video clearly displays an inherent ability to swim bodies of water.

  • Wow, all these people are fucking retards. SHUT UP, its not like these reptiles were bred PURELY by people. They live in the fucking wild, there IS small bodies of water that they may have to over come, OR if they fall into a body of water they WILL swim out. The live in more humid and wet area's so of course they have to have a swimming mechanism. All of you who say this was stupid or they cant swim. SHUT UP. You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @TheTysonORGORE dude they live in trees idiot

  • you make kids a bad name even i am not dum to put my crested geckos in the water ps your crested geckos are cool looking thumbs up on how the crested geckos look thumbs down on makeing you geckos swim.

  • this is so mean :(

  • the first crestie is incredibile seems an alligator

  • hahahahahhaahaha this was cute and hilarious

  • Obviously it's not a great thing to do all the time, but they will come across bodies of water in the wild, and obviously have some form of swimming mechanism - this probably won't be for extended periods of time, but would be fine in say a paludarium where they can get to land quickly. Fascinating vid.

  • you are an idiot..... crsted geckos cant swimm!!!! dont put them in the water they wll die

  • @taloosdkrocks obviously they DO swim this very video is proof LOL...I wouldn't do it with mine though.

  • This is a very stupid test you may unintentuanly drown your crested gecko your putting stress on your geckos they may become harder to handle after this test a lack in eating and many other things i have no idea why youve done this who gives a shit if some one wants to know if crested geckos can swim you shouldent do this to such a beautiful reptile.

  • @1CrestedGecko Did you not notice their great swimming reflex? They are obviously well-equipped to cross small bodies of still water such as puddles and I have no doubt they will do this is in the wild when needed.

If you want to whinge about stressing reptiles, go complain to Snakebytes tv for 'stressing' their snakes into biting Chewy all the time.

  • u r goin to stress ur gekos dum ass

  • great science .woould like to see in deeper water.

  • Thanks for clearing up my query.

  • Awsome surface tention 101!!!

  • The colors on your hatchling are amazing

  • i thought if you put a crested gecko in a bath tub full of water i thought that they would die

  • lol thats hiLARIOUS

  • I read that if they stop swimming they sink I was surprised to see yours floating..lol

  • i think the tail helps, it moves like a snake!!!!

  • thats incredible!
