I really like ur tank!...i have seen so many cool ones fancy..expensive and big..but urs is just fresh clean and simple...along with so many other cool color fish..it makes it look elegant...
Cool tank man.. Ima get back into reef keeping.. I had a 100 gallon reef tank a couple years back .. I spent about $6,000 on it .. And one day I wasn't home and protein skimmer starting sucking up water out of da tank on too da floor .. And it burned out my surge protector so wen I got back home fish and coral where clinging to life .. Dat was da worst day ever.. But I'm gonna start it back up again this month and dis time going big maybe 250 gallon.. Beautiful tank u have keep on reefing...
ditch the xenia or your tank will be covered in it i got a 2 inch frag and within a month it was 1 foot by 1 foot it was growing on all of my rocks pom pom xenia looks better and dosnt take over your tank as quick
The yellow and blue were at the same time, the yellow eye was after and the Blue always picked on him. The yellow eye died of ich. Usually they will be fine together as long as they are not the same color, but blue's are the aggressive ones out of the differing Tangs.
@UltimateReefTanks not nessecerally if you check out Henry643 he has a regal tang(hippo tang) and is still about 4 inches after about a year i believe. it usually occurs with usually large fish they only grow to the size of there tank.
@vijomyda u can, but its better to have one so it can remove most of the waste before it turns into ammonia thus making ur tank cleaner. But u can have only a filter( any type) with out a skimmer if u want.
@vijomyda dude you need a skimmer...period most people dont have a filter and just use a skimmer and live rock....the skimmer and rock is your filter the wetdry will cause nitrates
hi nice tank. i have the same size tank and is been good for more than 2 years. i saw that yours is not drill in tha bottom, and is doing good, mine is.
how can you have 3 firefish in there? i bought one purple fish and it died because my pair of clown kept chasing it. and then i boguht another one . it died in 3 days . i really love the firefish.
@FallensReef, they swim and it's kind of a snake in water pattern, when mine rests she lays on the plate coral, or when I have one of the fans off she will curl up in it and stick her head out.
@MagicialSmoke It's a Regal Tang, or Blue Tang, 100 or more gallon tank is recommended for keeping them, she was about $40.00 US. You could do a Google search on them to get more info.
Really nice tank mate just started to change my fowlr to reef still need to get rid of my Niger trigger first lol.I'm thinking of using led lighting as halide just to much to run I have a 5+2+2 . think I will just start with soft corals aren't they easier to run ?
Between your Blue Hippo Tang ,Yellow Tang and Kole Tang your tank is way to small for these active swimmers. You can see it in the video how the yellow tang seems to be a bit stressed. Your tank looks good but I think you should upgrade to a 6 footer at the very least.
how is a skimmer meant to be set, cuz mine i think doesn't work. The only avalible options for how many bubbles there are/ and the size of the bubbles are, no bubbles at all or loads of bubbles but with that settings the collection cup just fills up with water
My skimmer sometimes does that, I set the bubbles so they are just up a bit in the upper chamber. Sometimes when opening or closing it it may not seem like it has been moved but it has, use very small and slight rotations.
Thank you, its working pretty well now, the surface of the water has only some tiny little bubbles and there are a few of them. Thank you, i was about to go to the fish shop and buy a £32 new skimmer. LOL
my 72 bow front was free dollars. haha. i got it from an old friend who didn't want it anymore. it's a FOWLR though. i do intend to setup a reef soon...
nice tank anyways. for a reef it could be nicer, especially since you spent 8k. i would've definately work on your aquascaping... hmm. too many fish, too little corals imo.
If you understand saltwater fish then you will noticed they are all non-aggressive fish so they all get along with each other, but if it were modeled after the movie I would have a star fish and a puffer (which eat live coral by the way) and no live coral. as for their names, yes that movie was awesome and very funny and is one of my favorite movies so you can understand why I chose the names I did.
well live rock do cost around 8 dollars per pound and he seem to have like 200 pound of it in there...that would cost like 1.7k already....but 8k hmmm Lol
Lol, Ill give you the 411 in a personal message sometime tonight including answers to your other questions, but mostly its the tank, sump, water cooling system and calcium reactor that cost the most.
There are two types of shrimp in that tank one is a Cleaner Shrimp, that's the one with the white strip down its back, and a Fire Shrimp that's the one with red all over.
question man, I have like 15 pounds of live rock and lately the bottom of my tank (the sand) is turning brown in some spots? Is that normal? My tank has being running for over two weeks
gotta give u your dues dude, well done what u have there is a text book example of all the species and the hard work u have obviously put in is well worth it.
Is there anyway you can give me some details on how you maintain it so well and keep it so clean? I mean that tank looks fucking immaculate. I want to start the process (LONG process) of setting up a nice SW tank and was under the impression that maintaining cleanup was much harder than fw tanks.

Thanks for the advice. Havent had any issues with nitrates so far but you never know. I find that the corals I buy have rock (sometimes a lot of rock) with them so I actually had to get rid of some antler type pieces recently.

Thanks for the advice. Havent had any issues with nitrates so far but you never know. I find that the corals I buy have rock (sometimes a lot of rock) with them so I actually had to get rid of some antler type pieces recently.
Your tank is amazing by the way.
