Ya from what I read it goes back to the radeon 8500, wow. It bothers me that they advertised the feature but it was never used in games. I remember when Ati lost the lawsuit about advertising HDCP in certain cards but it was unusable. They advertised 2 features in the hd4000 series that never saw the light of day in actual games, tesselation and hardware physics. I would be pissed if I owned one of those cards, pissed enough to consider a class action lawsuit. Why not, its happened before.
just run the same settings as you arvutihull..difference being q6600@3.6ghz ddr2@1200mhz..cat drivers 10.4... score 1047, fps 41.6...Looks as if the cat drivers have improved heaven benchmark for the old 3870x2 :)
@greyfoxzero Actually it goes back to way before that, I think the 9700 series supported it. But it was ATI's own version and it never really caught off. DX11 set it as the standard and since then the companies have had to adopt that standard (And ironically, despite ATI pushing for it for years, Nvidia's first cards that supported it were far more efficient at coping with tessellation). Good on ATI for developing the technology so early on though, I just wish they weren't held back.
just try it out it's a benchmark ^^ hmm I am considering buying an m15x,seems you have an older model, newer m15x currently and sadly don't have ATI graphic cards as an option :(
Thanks! Nice! I made a video about 4870 X2 also, higher FPS and with 8xFSAA... I suspect that 3870 doesn't have enough VRAM to run it with FSAA, with 3870 X2 and 2xFSAA I got about 50% worse FPS than with FSAA off.

How will a single 3870 fair with Tessellation or how well would a 3870 +3850 setup fair since that is all about I can afford for my ATI box?
oc5nsli341nforce4 2 years ago
Tesselation is only supported by ATi's 5000 series GPU's at the moment.
arvutihull 2 years ago
@arvutihull Tesselation goes all the way back to the hd 2000 series.

Too late already... I made the video about 4870 X2 yesterday :-)
With 8xAA, 16AF and all maxed @ 1680x1050 I got over 40FPS average so the score isn't too bad...

Rrv670s never did like AA along with AF. There was some internal bottleneck, all of which belongs in the past with the 4000 and 5000 series!
toutagamon 2 years ago
I got 42 fps on my 5850 at 1920x1080 with 2xAA - otherwise the same!
jaju123456 2 years ago
Sweet!
Can't wait to run it maxed on 5870 X2 + DX11 and tesselation enabled... :-)

hehe I got 26 fps with tesselation otherwise same settings xD
