  • My favorite game from Sega. Took me a long ass time to beat this game.

  • My favorite RPG

  • most of japanese games have great music, but damn, if it wasn by that turn based battles and the like, i would have played them,

  • This game, their music, their story, their characters

    This is an EPIC masterpiece

  • Galia, I fight for thee!

  • A heroic final battle theme!

  • FOR LANSEAL, FOR GALLIA, WE SHALL CRUSH THE IMPERIAL VERMIN

  • in contrast to all the other fights of this game, there was nothing fun about this last boss fight

  • *Music starts playing* *cracks knuckles*

Alright Maximilian! It's time to kick your ass!

  • You can also just leave the right radiator for the last and hide a character behind the small square rock wall midway along the extreme left border of the map.

Or, for a fun kick on replays, weaken all three radiators without killing them, then drop a mortar lance (Lancers need to be Elites, level 11, and be equipped with a mortar lance) and take out all three instantly.

  • I'm still stuck on the Batomys/Selvaria mission. Any tips to prevent her from killing all your units in 1-2 turns?

  • @Razor7343

    How about details?

who are part of your team?

    your level etc...

I just finished Valkyria Chronicles ( I LOVE THIS GAME, of my my fav games ever)

hmmm. well use a lot your tank (eldewis xD I'm not even sure how to write it) to destroy Batomys cannons. then when he fires the main weapon use one of you engs, climb and throw a granade inside batomys. ^^

  • @Legendarydannte I have all the levels for my troops at 6 right now, I got past the part where I destroyed two of the radiators, but selvaria just destroyed me from there.

  • @Razor7343

haha you brought me back memories.

I think I was level 7 when I first played that mission.hmm, I'm sure you have 'defense boost' right (one of your orders) ? well there if your answer. if your unit manage to survive ( I hope all them are alive o.o) retreat the ones you are not using and focus on Alicia. use defense boost on her and approcah to Batomys using those fallen walls as shields.

plus natually you think the mission is over after you destroy the radiators well, guess what

  • @Legendarydannte Yeah when I lost, I had Alicia and Rosie at the far base (The one Batomys heads to at the end) and selvaria took out my engineer and 4 of my lancers (Walter survived by being pinned between the batomys and the boundary) The I tried wedging my tank between Selvaria and the base but I guess my weakpoint must have been slightly exposed as the batomys killed it.

  • @Razor7343

you'll need your lancers. as I said try retreating lancers from the first base ( I assume there is where you set them) and call them back as reinforcement at the far base. Also go to skirmish and level up at least one more level, I had to do the same ( yeah I use the samestrategy, all my unit on the same level).

So basically destroy batomys cannons and then retreat your units and put them on the last base. Keep welking way of batomys and selvaria. use also sniper support ;)

  • @Legendarydannte That bastard old man isn't giving me orders so I can't get sniper support. :P I'll try your strategy out though.

  • @Razor7343 Just load your team with lancers, engineers, and whoever gives CP. Everyone else will be prettymuch useless once you take out the group on the ridge at the start. Lancers pummel the cannons and walls. Engineers restock the lancers when they are out of ammo and take out the guys on the ridge. Take your time when attacking so you don't get lit up by the cannons. Keep Welkin at a safe distance so Batomys don't destroy you. And when Selvaria comes, use the tank as cover. Simple. :3

  • @Razor7343

Out of sheer curiosity, what reactors do you destroy first? Because Selvaria shows up only after 2 out of 3 reactors are destroyed and stays only on the left side of the Batomys. So you can for example call a shocktrooper from the main camp and run him/her to the bottom left corner of the map (There's a place to crouch in there) to wait Batomys and when it drives past just use Defend Boost and go drop the last grenade. Ta-Dah. Then just bombard Batomys with Edelweiss and you win :-D

  • Hitoshi Sakimoto is such a wonderful composer.

  • I hope they add an aerial and naval element to the next one. I really like advanced wars but the Blitz system looks like an upgrade in strategic warfare game play.

  • This is our final operation

    Let END this war

    Squad 7, MOVE OUT

  • I still say this is Hitoshi's best Classical soundtrack to-date. Great choice and a good spot for it.

  • You're right.

    It's an SRPG :P

  • @ShatteredAxis Strategy RPG indeed.

  • I've been doing my very best to NOT buy this game mostly because of the RTS elements, but with this epic music this is going to be a bit more of a challenge.

If only the missions had mid-way savepoints. I heard the missions are pretty hard later in the game and that some of them would benefit from some sort of checkpoint system.

  • You can actually quicksave anytime.

  • O_o What?! Does it act like a savepoint for you in the middle of battle or something? Come to think about it, I may have seen it used in a walkthrough I saw recently. Not sure if it's the same thing, though.

  • Yup... just beware of long loading.

  • That's pretty cool. I may pick this game up after getting Gay Tony and MW2. Thanks for the info, Zapper.

  • @Kill52

Might be irrelevant now, but you can save at almost anytime during the book and during the command phase, except during the enemy's phase, and return to the exact same point (soldiers deployed, their positions, CP remaining) when you reload the game. (You don't have to restart the mission, you start exactly where you left off).

  • @DanVielwerth This may make what could have been the hardest game I've ever liked (aside from Bayonetta) to a beatable game. I heard you could save the game at any point, but I was always under the impression that you would start at some pre-determined checkpoint. This is definitely good to hear.

I'll just bump this game up a few more spaces in the list for games I want to get soon.

  • @Kill52 If I were you, I'd get this game now. It's out of print and becoming rarer and rarer. I'm not American but I hear Gamestop have got a good deal on VC right now. Get it while you can. I loved the game enough to buy it several months before buying a PS3 to play it on (because PS3's weren't going to run out anytime soon).

  • @DanVielwerth What!? When did that happen? This is just great: I have the money to either buy a new PS3 slim or VC, not both, and now it's becoming rarer to find. I have a 40GB fat PS3 which has run out of space, and I don't want to get a larger hard drive only since the slim may have a few bundles worked out with it soon.

This is actually the main reason I haven't bought any new PS3 games, such as Yakuza 3 (I'll never forget that you beat up tigers in part 2).

    This truly is a dilemma.

  • @Kill52 get it of ebay or amazon, i got mine there for 19 bucks. But be warned, this will cause much rage quittage and there is no autosave feature...

  • the game is great the music is awsome and i just found out that there is an amimated show for the game and so far it is awsome

  • Just finished it. Took me 4 turns. Had to use Welkin and Zaka for defeat the final boss. I used mostly Hector, Largo and Zaka for the towers and then Welkin, Zaka and sometimes Marina or Oscar for the boss. Great music btw.

  • I KNEW this sounded a bit like Sakimoto's work. He's pretty good when he wants to be.

  • Love VC.

Final battle can be a pain. But the 'Troopers are my best friends.

  • Hehe...I used lancers at first until I figured out that Rosie hurts a good deal on her own...and doesn't miss! lol But yeah, I took the boss down in 2 turns by having Alicia, Rosie, Edy, Dallas, and Susie just gang up and shoot the beetles out of him. XD

  • beat this game last week. The final battle was epic. I just love this battle theme!

  • I never got this far. The chapter where you go through the beach has given me problems.

  • smoke grenades are your friend *thumbs up* Just have the tanks in the center and slowly work your way around to the enemy base carefully :)

  • I know that. I got as fars as the base itself. I just been running into bad luck. Like you know that one girl who is a Shocktrooper with gray-ish hair and pig-tails, that she got her own mission for DLC? Yeah, she got beat once against a guy with a flamethrower, AND SHE DIED IMMEDIATELY!

  • whos the final boss anyway? Silvaria?

  • its maxamillian you kill selvaria like 3 missions b4 this

  • Purely epic. I want this game now..

  • this is hugely epic.

  • every night I cry myself to sleep, knowing this game exists yet I do not own a PS3

  • Buy one >:O

  • Great game but I didn't complete it yet.

  • It's the only PS3 game I've beaten so far.

  • this one lbp,mgs are the only games i had the pleassure of beating in ps3

  • @Zapper101 Funny, it's a PS3 game I DON'T OWN.
