I'm Irish and I spent several months in Birmingham on work placement from college. I have to say I loved the Brummie accent and the people in general. Especially the women! Digbeth and Broad Street were some spots for nights out!
I would say that much of this video has been based on the city centre areas. This is more of a commercial centre with staff who don't live in the city centre areas. There are not many people who know each other well over a long period of time, or know people well who work in the shops and stores. Every body seems to be isolated and don't talk to each other or even say hello to a stranger in a friendly manner. But if you go outside to the subherbs there's alot more people who know each other.
Lenny Henry's from Dudley , Frank Skinners from Oldbury , and Julie Walters is from Smethwick; don't these areas come under the Sandwell borough? Thats the Black Country not Birmingham
People still talk about the development over the last ten years; truth is the main development took place in the 90s. The city has been stagnant for a decade.

I love Birmingham. I used to go to a school in Selly Oak. Some of the best years of my life was spent growing up there. I went back to Indonesia in 1997 and left all me mates there. I'd love to pop back over for a visit sometimes.

I've lived in in London and Bham. I dont think its fair to say Bham is a dump. People are suprised by how green it can be in parts. There is lots going on in the city centre. I've recently rediscovered the rag markets and they're legendary! There are good and bad parts to every big city. London is far worse for crime and congestio. Bham is good if you want the city life without the high prices, smog and rat race of the capital.

Birmingham HAD character then about ten years ago (1996/7) things seemed to have changed.
There s No more outdoor market. Its now full of your bog standard shops and same malls you get everywhere else in England
It has no character and is very unpleasant to visit.
As soon as you leave the train station Birmingham is grim!

Hi, I made the video and I'm obviously from Birmingham also, I was presenting some statistical data from experiments about people who are from around the country, so as to make the film non-biased. And if you watch the rest I've actually spent the rest of the video trying to prove that people's opinions and the results of that experiment were wrong and that Birmingham is great!

@mollehhhx As someone who's been there to work, socialise and more importantly watch football, I find it to be one of the shittist cities in the UK. Nothing on London, Cardiff, Belfast, Liverpool, Newcastle etc.

I live in Birmingham, and I love my accent, I really don't see why people hate it, and it's not THAT much of a dump, just certain parts, but you get that everywhere.

Birmingham is violent especially the estates it is all very well doing up the centre but the serious social problems of labours precious multiculturalism are still there.
Birmingham is like all the big towns and cities it has been taken over by foreigners including muslim extremists spreading violence and drugs.
Many of the foreignes especially asians don't intergrate or fit in and keep to their own ghettos it is a dangerous national problem not just birmingham.

I've lived in in London and Bham. I dont think its fair to say Bham is a dump. People are suprised by how green it can be in parts. There is lots going on in the city centre. I've recently rediscovered the rag markets and they're legendary! There are good and bad parts to every big city. London is far worse for crime and congestio. Bham is good if you want the city life without the high prices, smog and rat race of the capital.
