To me, this song is about confiding to someone about pain which you've hidden away. "A part owner to my pain". This means that now you've told them, its is the burden of both of you.

It could be about the specific pain of not quite fitting in - selling your soul could refer to conforming, maybe changing your apparent personality to attempt to fit in with the people you are forced to associate with.

The chorus seems to be about a person in this situation that needs some sympathy.
