I think that you made a great door. Would love to see more of your gadgets!! Don't listen to most of the other fools comments. As you can tell. They haven't even got off the couch yet!! Lol. Keep on keeping on. You have great ideas. Cheers !!
good, but it does look like an old covered up door due to its size an shape, would get my attention the second i walked into the room, make a larger come complex cabinet to hide it
@coolkidcater Yeah I would really want one of those as well but some people keep money in a safe at home which is really over the top because it not like any one is ever going to rob your house lol
Not sure I'd have used air. Probably an electric deadbolt for quicker action locking and unlocking.. also easy to have a manual key assist for that kind of lock as well in case of power failure.
Very nicely made! Excellent work. Maybe you could offer the construction plans for sale? That would be a great home project. Watching the door open, all I could hear in my mind was the voice of Gene Wilder saying, "Put. The Candle. Back!" (Young Frankenstein). Thanks for sharing your work with us!
It's pretty obvious what these types of "hidden doors" are at a glance. That door would come down easily if it were a determined thief or intruder too.
Great idea in theory and in use in a normal setting but for egress or escape in an emergency, ie intruder, it seems a little slow. Thanks for sharing none the less.
one day i will make a hidden door in a house and then sell the house. the owners will find the button to open it and then the room will play a trolololol sound and a chest with 100 bucks will be reveled...
Based on some of the posts I've read it seems that most people are familiar with compressed air from a compressor but apparently a stored air supply never crossed their minds, it would take very little air to open and close the doorway and a well maintained system wouldn't leak down for weeks.
my question is do you have another switch to activate the cylinder for the door on the inside... sounds like an easy way to lock yourself upstairs if not...
@andersonevans and @WaterWarfareMaster the guy I would think if he put a back up in he would either have a generator or a little wind turbine on his roof when power is out or who knows maybe he has a nice landscape and has a water turbine with a waterfall either your argument is pointless because of these possibilities.
Nice work! I think I might put that on the one I made.
Might want to check building codes though. If there isn't another way up to your theater room, and there was an emergency, the fire/police/ambulance would not know how to get up there.
