it was interesting seeing the little switcher lashed up with the big locos. also noticed a sp boxcar with the speed lettering. those are a rare sight.
I believe that was the MRVRO, if it was early afternoon. Crew goes OD at 1000. If late afternoon or early evening then it would have been the QFRNPP or the QRVNPP.
Just a silly detail: at 3:48 a car arrives at the other side of the level crossing. The driver obviously doesnt share our train hobby; you can see him impatiently u-turning.:-)
FRA rules in the US require a minimum of 20 seconds from start of the warning lights to the train entering the crossing. This particular video, using the ET clock on the video, has it at 29-30 seconds, well within the prevailing regulations, and nearly the same as your standard. :)
This is perfect! Yes, sir! Right on the money! I love train videos that capture the horn blown a few miles from where you are before the train arrives. Many videos have the train signals activated long before the camera even starts recording. This one, on the other hand, is what I like. Unfortunately, you have to search to find videos like that. lol
Thats nothing, Southern Pacific used to run 100+ trains usually with any were from 3-6 Locomotives on the head end and usually 3-5 Locomotives cut into the middle. Now thats cool to see. I was in colorado in the summer of 2000 and I got to watch UP coal trains that would run SD90/43Macs, and AC400CW's with three on the head end, two cut into the middle of the train, and two on the rear.
Dude I feel so freaking retarded!!!!! At first I thought this was like part of your on going upload of east coast stuff from Pennsylvania!!! It is donner!!!! DANG IT!!!!!
BTW: I have been to this Alta Crossing many times, I have never shot a train at this crossing but I have driven over this crossing may times during hard core chases.
My friend has a cabin up in alta and i love going up there cause of the echo train horns make!!! Its amazing!!!

Looks like a nice area to live around. But it wouldn't be as nice without these trains passing by!!!

poor switcher must feel intimidated in there with the big engines, mind you they are pretty mighty despite being small.

Awesome. As a child I lived nearby a railroad track. That sound of mightiness.
Beautiful trains and because of their ongoing strength they still give me the goose bumps...

Nice vid! But to my opinion the interval is kinda short, in my country is at least 30 secs - I guess...
