Why is everyone dismissing Stalin as a good leader? Before Stalin, Russia was an agricultural nation, in 5 years he changed that. Before Stalin the rich and nobles were the only ones who could even write their own name. After Stalin the USSR had a literacy rate above 99% in both male and female and still remains to this day. Before Stalin Russia was an aging world power with WWI being its last hurrah. After Stalin she became a superpower able to compete with the US. All of this in only 30 years.

The bad thing during Lenins time and Stalin was that they sat on the top demanding everything, the thing was that they should split all the goods even to the whole population. @SpaceHula I don't think it can be done with a superstate as a middle man for everything though. It has to be done mainly through worker self management and co-operatives owned directly by workers. You can't have the CCCP running every economic aspect of everything for it to work. A government infrastructure may be able to manage very basic necessities, like mining of raw materials and food staples though. I think everyone should own a gun too to keep the government in check.
