My Dad and I used to get drunk listening to Joe in the 70s. Dad thought Joe was the best white blues singer he'd ever heard. Dad's gone, but amazingly??? Joe is still here. Love you Joe! Love you Dad.
It is not a guitar. It is a DoBro. That instrument is used mostly in Bluegrass Music. This song fits me, also. Love the music and lyrics linked to Joe Cocker's Voice- - Unbeatable combination, in my book. Time changes everyone and everything. Joe gets better with time- - Just LIke great Jack Daniels and Old wine. Great performance. xRatti. That is my opinion and AI will stick to it.. bye
I am a person of color and my grandmother calls people like this great man, pure hearted people who are just too good for this mean world. I think my grandmother is correct. God bless his pure heart always...
The only entertainer I know that gives 110% with every song every note. His passion is unmatched by any other entertainer. If you can't see it in his face then you must be blind
NOBODY can cover a song like Joe Cocker. Think of different Jazz musicians that do the same songs over and over and all make it sound fresh and different. His true art is expressing nuance and meaning... oh yeah and that voice!
Joe Cocker came to visit Crawford Colorado he liked it so much he bought a ranch here,he had restaurant and gift shop in Crawford but Crawford is small town and way in the middle of nowhere really ,I live 50 miles from there
Wow! Nice to see Chris Stainton with him. These guys were together in 1968 for the first recording of "With a little help from my friends", the album.
I can't usually be bothered to comment on idiots, I'll make an effort today. Your disrespectful to a talent that you will, and could never understand... We don't care for your opinion because we are here only to listen to the music, not to listen to you!
I was watching jimmy cliffs version, but then his head wobbled off and into the crowd! So I came back to Joe. That said, to compare versions and says on is better than the other is silly... To say one man is more passionate or emotional than the other is also silly. For me, jimmys version is too ear piercing given the pitch, I prefer joes.
But we all relate to different things, means nothing in the end.
This song is just beautiful. I have seen it preformed live and on clips here. For me the bottom line is that everyone I have heard sing it brings there own sense of spirituality to it.
..its maybe the ambivalence provided by a outer appearence that causes feelings of compassion and a thought that this guy is someone like me - contradicted by this great outstanding voice and his ability to get strait to the heart. Wow
Joe is the Real deal !!! Great Voice and very full of Emotion during his performances!!! He is an ICON !!!! Sweat or no sweat or whatever he is the man !!!
Joe won my heart a long, long time ago. You can see why from performances like this. Pure, raw emotion. I love him even more now than I did back then.
he is great and if i was a woman i would never even think about it i would be with him hes just great and i wouldn't give a damn about his palsy or the way he looks cuz hes on higher level . damn it why am i am man =D
Do you identify with your body or your soul? Which of them is you more often? In truth, when I was 15 in 1968 he was a good looking man,now grizzled."If you are lucky it will happen to you too".
Joe Cocker had the Cross of sweat on his chest for me ......It was blood, sweat, and tears for me when ifirst hear´d this song in Tiberias, Israel. 1984.
A song which i`ll carry with me like a cross on my chest!
what are you talking about?? it was written by jimmy cliff in 1969 and in the lyrics he says "my women left me and i am wondering why", so how is this "suppose" to be sung by a woman?? annie lennox did one hell of a rendition, but what are you smokin?
Many rivers to cross But I can't seem to find my way over Wandering I am lost As I travel along the white cliffs of Dover Many rivers to cross And it's only my will that keeps me alive I've been ripped, washed up for years And I merely survive becouse of my pride And this loneliness won't leave me alone It's such a drag to be on your own My woman left me but she wouldn't say why Guess I'll just break right down and cry ...
Por favor, que bueno sería este unplugged completo; Joe Cocker es sensacional e inigualable; lo amo. Dios bendiga a Joe Cocker y lo deje vivir y cantar por muchos años más.
I'm gonna get a dozen thumbs down for this, but i've never seen the big deal about Cocker. Listen to that voice. Jimmy Cliff wouldn't be too pleased I think.
This is it, I cried the first time I heard this song done by Joe... lol and I've cried every time since, and I STILL LISTEN To it because they are tears of Love! Sing long Joe, no one does it better than you, you throw every bit of you into everything you do.... that goes beyond talent! That is HEART!
There is something special and unique about Joe which sets him apart from all others. He speaks to the heart and soul of all who have lived their lives with Joe Cocker marking time. He sings of life as it is for us all, he sings of love and of pain, and in so doing, he has marked time and experience for all of us who were blessed - and challenged, to live in those changing, emotive times. Live long, Joe. Your music touches my heart and my soul.
@mythress Your words are so elegantly descriptive of Joe Cocker. In 1970, I met my best friend through his love of Joe Cocker and Arlo Guthrie. Anyhow, through my friend I learned about Joe Cocker, back in the days of Jamaica Say You Will. Joe Cocker touched my heart then, and still does. Your comment says what's in my heart too, and I agree with your every word. Thanks.
