For instance look at this past few years we have had a ton of major movies come out about alien life. (i.e. War of the Worlds, Avatar, District 9, The Fourth Kind, ect.) I think this alone is a sign that the govt is trying to ease the subject onto the general public through media and entertainment.

Absolutely not. I doubt aliens exist. I may be wrong. Regardless, there have been conspiratorial plans to fake a hostile alien invasion to unite the whole earth as the new world order for a long time.
