I just finished listening to this. Fucking brilliant. Thank you SO MUCH, Stefan. The beauty of a truly free world (one which we are SO CLOSE TO yet SO FAR FROM), and everything that is done to squash it bring me to tears in equal measure, for equally opposite reasons. Thanks again for being such a true force in this journey of mine, and I'm sure, that of many others. SG
@octapotamus Oh, and I just completed a donation subscription (after about 3 months listening). Your appeal at the start of FDR2096 really did the trick :D Feelin' good, oh yeaah.
Hey, Stef, how many pauses did you take when reading this book? or was this a marathon with no water breaks? I hint at least one time when you stopped reading between chapters because there was a brief extended pause, longer than other chapters. other than that, it was very discrete if you did! I'm only at 6 hours though!@ May have not paced yourself! LOL
~ 3:10:00 Referring to paying someone to do 'volunteer' charity work for you, I've actually done that twice. On two separate occasions rather than spend 100 hours of my own time to help out with something I wanted to see done, I payed someone else $1000. to do the job. The thing is at the time I could easily earn more than $50. an hour doing my own work which I enjoyed doing more than the volunteer work. Win/win for everyone.
I listened to this when it was released by mises dot org. You can download the individual chapters as mp3 files for free, then listen through your mp3 player. Much more pleasant than sitting in front of the computer for eight hours one minute and thirty seconds. I was surprised but delighted to hear Stefan reading it. Some of the readers at Mises org are hard to listen to, unfortunately.
Awesome narration and book. Thanks Stephen and Jeff.

@TheAtheistPaladin Is this meant to be a joke? If so, very amusing. If not, no, they don't get you for shipping and handling, since you can download it for nothing. If you get the physical book, it costs money, of course. What else would you expect? The Mises Institute offers hundreds of books on economics and libertarianism free to download in various forms, including pdf and epub files. It's well worth a visit to their website at mises dot org. I've got loads on my Kindle, including this
@stefbot if you dont use video could you upload in 720p? i dont know the specifics, or if you need new hardware to do this... but 720p recognises a still image and will just stream the audio, loading much faster on this end.
I would like to politely suggest a video of how this all went down. I've always been interested in audio-recording, it would be great to get a behind the scenes look at how one records and edits such a long piece like this. I know that's not "philosophical" in nature, but it does cover one interesting way people communicate ideas.
This is one of the books that I ordered from the Mises Institute last month. I haven't quite got round to reading it yet but if 'Bourbon for Breakfast' is anything to go by, I'm in for a treat once I've finished reading Mises' "Omnipotent Government" :D Thanks for producing this audiobook version Stefan, I'll give it a listen at some point (although in smaller more manageable chunks :D ) 8 hours, I appreciate your hard work and commitment to the cause of liberty. All the best Stefan :)
With all due respect to Jeffrey... but if he wrote a book that takes 8 hours to make a series of cogent points in a concise way, then he wrote too much. Longer does not necessarily mean better.

The only decision I have now is ...
A.) whether to listen to the real Stefan read the book, .... OR ....
B.) whether to read the book myself with an internal monologue in the voice of Stefan.
Hmmm, guess I better just listen to the audiobook. My inner monologue doesn't have the same elocution -- it is too lazy.
