If our star was Canis Majoris it wouldn´t reach Pluto... It would get half way there, near Uranus (no fun intended). Canis Majoris is big, but the lenght of our dear "little" solar system is ENORMOUS. Imagine you are in Pluto. The sun would be as small a dot in the sky as any other star!

@bracikmen the idea is that the distance between the atmosphere of vy canis majoris and the planets is as big as the distance between the sun's atmosphere and the rest of the Solar System. So, basically, this animation compare the size of the star with the planets, and shows the rotation speed that all planets would have if there were an star like that at the center of the Solar System

@bracikmen vy CM's radius is 9 AU... the distance between uranus and the sun is 20 AU. so vyCM is 18 AU big what does not exeed the sun-uranus distance. This star is big but our solar system is big aswell
