The short answer to your question is.......enlisted marines basically do the dirty work....direct killing. Officers are gentlemen soldiers, they make major decisions on the battlefield. the intelligence officer is responsible for giving the sniper teams their orders as to insert location and kill targets. hope this helps. I served with scout sniper teams as a spotter for indirect fires and close air support.

Although, large caliber rifles are better engineered to handle the rounds they fire with added weight and in the case of this rifle, semi automatic action and muzzle break.

@golfer15963 while the 460 is a powerful round, if you fired it out of a rifle you wouldnt notice a large muzzle blast because of the longer barrel, more powder is burned in the barrel and the gas is at a lower pressure when released into the surrounding environment. This seems to be getting sidetracked from the video which relates to precision rifle shooting

To say that the SAS is the oldest military force in the world is a lie. And they aren't so much a military "force" as much as a scalpel. And while I'm not saying that they aren't among the best in the world, it's ignorant to say that they are "officially" the best. The US Special Forces, Israel's Sayeret, and German GSG9 operators are all incredibly good at what they do. NATO countries help train each other's militaries regularly, I'd say they're all pretty even.

The Barrett M107 is semi automatic as well. There are only a few settle differences between the 107 and the 82. The main (for the USMC) being the addition of the new Schmidt & Bender M8541 3-12 x 50mm Scout/Sniper Day Scope. There were a few M82s that were updated with the new scope by some Scout/Sniper platoons as well. In addition the 107's have a lengthened rail on the top of the upper receiver for mounting NV/IR optics in front of the scope, as well as a modified rear hand grip and mono-pod

The M82A1 like this one has a shorter rail for mounting a single high powered optic. Usually you could distinguish them apart by whether it has that odd looking carrying handle on top of the frame but looking closely at the rail size is easier to identify if you look close enough.

m82a1 has a moving barrel, the weight of the barrel falls back when the shot is fired the same energy is used to move more weight back == less recoil, the new m107 doesn't have this and has a larger compensator, the reason behind this is when the barrel moves the gun moves as well therefore multiple shots in the same area isn't so accurate. The fixed barrel doesn't do that and allows for quick multiple shots to be fired with the same accuracy.
