This song was originally released on A&M Records in 1988 - another version was released on Forefront Records mid 90's - the Forefront X version is a re-release of the Forefront version - Michael Anderson
In 2003 I paid someone $20.00 at Google Answers to find the artist of this song. I heard this song in 1988 when it was on the rock station 94HJY Providence, RI. Hadn't been able to get it out of my head by 2003 (15 Years later). I've got this song on my iPod now and still love it. Its on a ForeFront CD
called "X [or 'ten']: The Birthday Album (Forefront Anniversary). I have that CD too somewhere.
Michael Anderson is a guest in one of the recent TAXI video sessions, where he talks about his career and music then and now - really worth checking out! (google it, it's on ustream)
As of today, Michael Anderson works at the Music Institute in L.A., and wrote the book, The Little Black Book of Songwriting. Still writing music, teaching, and lecturing...
I had the pleasure of meeting this artist back in the late eighties. This guy had CLASS, a real down to earth kind of guy that was great to see in concert. Saw him a few times in clubs in LA, every time a real rockin' show! Wish him the best... and hey when will he be back in LA???
I found an an old sampler cassette that A&M records put out in the late 80's, and this song was on it. I would never have thought I'd find it on youtube. The other song I have by him is called "Shine A Light". Is there any more info on this guy, like a discography or even if he's still alive? Thanks.
I got a copy of this record in 1987 a few weeks before it came out. he did a wonderful follow up record for A&M Records that was self titled. He also wrote the country classic "Maybe It Was memphis" for Pam Tillis. He then recorded two albums for the Christian Market on the same label as DC Talk. He added a song to a Larry Norman tribute album and has released a handful of demo projects. Michael also has written a book on songwriting.
I still have this cassette; always liked this song and Anderson's voice. The lyrics are based on the Old Testament book of Joel, chapter 2. Most Bible scholars agree that the "army" being described in the chapter was a real plague of locusts (no kidding) that destroyed everything in their path. I like Michael Anderson's take on a different type of conflict. "Stand or fall, beg for mercy, we're gonna face the fire now."
One of my favorite rock n roll tunes of all time. I finally picked up the CD a couple of months ago. Can't believe how difficult it was to find. Thanks for posting this!
WOW!!!!........been trying to hear this song for years, can remember buying the album as soon as i could (then put it on cassette tape, for car), i still have the album (tape is long gone) but don't have anything to play it on..........got laryngitis myself jamming in car......love the way his voice squeaks!.. Thanks for a great nostalgic vid post!!
WOW! talk about being a late "bloomer". I just saw this video for the first time along w/ his other great video's. Michael's True Love Video is Superb! and they sound so current, and I'm sure they will be around a long time.
I always liked this. I do remember it getting some airplay on FM stations in SoCal at the time, and I bought it on 45, but it's been really hard to find a version of it online. Don't think I'd ever seen the video, glad someone had it and uploaded it.
Gave myself frequent laryngitis rocking along with that song. Ya know, he didnt get nearly enough air play or recognition- but without a doubt Michael planted some of the very first seeds of the organic sound crop. Thanx for posting LB!

It's 20 years I don't listen to this song.
The vocal style maybe influenced the Dolores O'Riordan style...

So timely, as well as timeless! We're gonna face the fire now...

It's also borrowing heavily from the Book of Revelation. "I see one Man left standing all alone."

"The mighty hand of a killing beast"
This one is a timeless classic. I remember this from many years ago.
