But in the last 30 years, ehh,...not so much ( I do realize the tallest building in Harare was built in the 90's). I would venture that if took a snapshot from 1978 and one from today, they would look much the same, if not a little worse for wear.

I am not sure what this has to do with recovering from the economic, political and social catastrophe of the last decade. You can be very selective with still photographs.
The last time I conversed with a resident of Harare they told me they get drinking water delivered by truck and electricity from a home generator.

Too bad most of those buildings, were built pre 1980, before Mugabe took over. I am a fan of architecture, and Harare does have a nice collection of 1960's and 1970's style buildings. But in the last 30 years, ehh,...not so much ( I do realize the tallest building in Harare was built in the 90's). I would venture that if took a snapshot from 1978 and one from today, they would look much the same, if not a little worse for wear.
