Bloodlines - Here is a tip, Philip. Get rid of vampires in Second Life, if you expect anybody to take it seriously. Otherwise, Second Life will never be anything more than a game. Second Life is whatever you make of it. You bring your attitude and personality with you. However you get treated in RL is pretty much how you'll get treated in SL, but now by an international crowd of Avatars. The Avatars you meet in SL are real people from all over earth (we think.. some we're not sure about). It can be fun. It can be hurtful. It can be interesting. It can be boring, tasty, visual, (pick a metaphor). It isn't a substitute for RL, but it's better than *no* life at all.

Second Life is basically any other MMORPG, kinda like World Of Warcraft, except it's more of a large virtual chatroom like PS3's HOME app.

There are ways to make the graphics better, like turning up the graphics or buying\making better designed products. But a lot of the stuff that's very low poly and poorly textured stuff are made by users who are using SL's own 3D sculpting and programming built into the client.

It comes for PC, Mac and Linux. You go to SecondLife(.)com and pick which version makes you all tingly ^.^ (and, of course, use the version on your machine right for the OS :P). Basic is free, Premium is $9.95 US/month and you can even rent simulators and make your own island whatever you want!

SL is not really a game. It's like an interactive social networking sight where instead of having a wall, like facebook you have an avatar and you move inside and virtual world. It's more complex than that... but that's sort of the gist. The reason it's not a "game" is because there is not character progression or competition. There are no challanges other than what you set for yourself, no story, theme or other game ellements. It exists purely for social interaction. I found it boring.
