I've never does this backwards I usually FOIL from the last line to the first..but what he did in the second line to get to the 3rd was just just use the (a-5) and used it as his first on the 3rd line and what was left was (a-4b) for the second.

I am on honrors, I am good at math but algebra, my teacher didn't really go deep with algebra. I get alot of problems that require algebra in honors now. So that's why I searched for any video algebra lessons. I found this went to their website , but it is 99 $s? I just wanted to fkin learn but they are charging money... IT pisses me off, but I am still glad that I found a different site with swf explaining algebra.

@emotionalpunkboy Claiming they charge too much is a big difference than claiming something should be free. It's like saying a bottle of water is overpriced versus saying that a company shouldn't be allowed to charge for or people pay for that service if they desire.

It's simply about giving choices to the consumer, ones they can accept or go forth and find other resources, many of them free (like a lot of info on the net).

Just your choice. No biggie.

@uThink1mSexC2 Sure it does :). You're breaking the formula in half, then in the first half you extract a to get a(a-5). a*a = a^2. a * -5 = -5a. The second half you're also taking out (a-5). You get -4b(a-5). Then you use the commutative property to change the order of the nomials (like terms), to get (a-5). You extract (a-5) the same way you took out a from the first term, leaving you with (-4b). So this leaves you with (a-5)(a-4b). Multiply it back out to see how it works. Or msg me if u want

-4b(1a-5) = -4x(1a)b and -4b(5) so = -4ab+20b
