NY Certificate of Birth Resulting in Stillbirth

Assemblywoman Hyer-Spencer of New York State now has 83 sponsors regarding Certificates for Birth Resulting in Stillbirth... It is very close to coming to the floor for a vote!

I certainly have a concern. With all the illegal voting this past election, how can we know that this won't just be another way to register more illegal votes for a voting box?

If they register these stillborn children as born with a birth certificate, do they also get a death certificate as well?

The idea that these certificates would be used for such a far off scheme is disturbing...however that concern has absolutely has been addressed in the language of the bill. Each certificate will have the words "this is not proof of live birth" on it. So rest assured stillborn babies will play no part in future elections. Death certificates are certainly still available to parents who apply for them.

we only get a death certificate now. that is what is so insane about this, all of us who have had stillbirths in NY have death certificates for our children, but no birth certificates...

NYS legislation need to recognize these children, they are never forgotten. I hope that the NYS Assembly see that this is what families all across the state need. It's the right thing to do for these babies who unfortunately were stillborn. Give these families ther recognition of there babies. It what is right!

It didn't pass? I will tell you why if it didn't,because if they acknowledge that the baby was alive to recieve a birth certificate, then give them a death certificate.They would have to acknowledge ALL the babies that are alive in the womb and give them a certificate.Therefore the ones aborted have to have a death certificate also. THEREFORE it would be on paper that we are murdering. I am surprised these parents recieved death certifiactes. Shouldn't all fetuses aborted & miscaried recieve it?

This is an historic time for these families...NY legislators face an imperative to do what is right and just.

I am so happy I could be a part of the effort to pass the bill this year. It is unfortunate that it did not pass, but I know we will succeed eventually. Thank you everyone who joined me in that effort.
