  • most je karluv, ne sv. karla! the bridge is called charles bridge, not st. charles! he was a king and a holy roman emperor (14th century), fortunately he felt in love with bohemia and thanks to him we have one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

  • Not exactly. Charles' mother was Eliška Přemyslovna, from the Czech dynasty of Primislids (Přemyslovci). His father, John of Luxemburg, were invited to the Czech lands by Czech nobility. Although little Charles (Wenceslas in this time) spent his childerhood in France, he spoke Czech (besides other languages) and in fact, Czechia was his homeland. There were all premises to his love for the Czech lands.

    Charles IV made a lot for Prague, but it wasn't only him who made it so beutiful.
