  • best band ever. period. metalcore pioneers.

  • love it! look how young everyone is

  • 2 Voters met the wrath of the sweaty cheese beaver.

  • So good!! Brings back memories!!! Thanks for this!!

  • well over ten years old and still copied over and over again.

  • This band (along with Earth Crisis) changed my taste in music. I really wish they hadn't strayed from this lineup and changed so much over the years. I can't get into much past their self titled album.

  • haha Look at the young Brett Deiter (Juliana Theory) rocking it out.

  • this was the core of this band I enjoyed the most in the history of Zao members.

  • it's refreshing to hear music before breakdowns.

  • i know right? i agree w/ peterplaysbass

  • Zao = incredible

  • This is bloody amazing!!His Voice is mind-blowing!!! Before all the hardcore trendy stuff.Zao was the real deal. It's a real shame those days are gone.

  • If you can't get into these monster grooves, check your pulse.

    Difficult to sit still yeah?

  • Ahhh... beautiful.... the Zao I once knew and loved.

  • SICK!!! Thanks for posting this vid. Never got to see this line up, but this is going to have to be close enough... LOL.

  • man when this show was kicking ass i was 2 :(

  • My fav Zao song of all time :)

  • so i got a reply to my previous post i guess and i honestly have no idea what i was saying. it was like a year ago and i have listened to and known zao much longer than that so i think i was just talking out my ass. i deserve my minus 2 :(

  • Hey, you apparently have grown since then... +1 now my friend ;D

  • haha...thanks

  • i was at this show. i think i was 16 at the time. it killed so hard. twothirtyeight and the shinji ikari also played. so, so good.

  • they fuckin killed it

  • Dan...Wow. Shit is so fucking real.

  • epileptic attacks f0r the snger

  • this is the best song out of the whole album. this is such a flashback to how real hardcore shows used to be. awesome!

  • it's sad, the whole scene seems to be dead and gone.

  • Russ is th e f ucking man

  • This is so fucking good!!!!

  • As I Lay Dying so overtly ripped the verse riff from this song. It's the exact same chords played in a different rhythm. I believe it's the breakdown for the song Falling Upon Deaf Ears from Frail Words Collapse. Makes sense though. I'm almost positive that Tim from AILD was really highly influenced by the band. Dan sings on Control is Dead from 'Shadows are Security', so...yea. GO ZAO!

  • Who's Setven? The vocalist is Dan

  • Steven Has Awsomee Vocals!!! you r all amazing

  • everytime i hear blood and fire i have to listen to the whole cd i hate this new hardcore shit. old hardcore is the only hardcore

  • "turning a child into an enemy, turning open arms into closed fists"

They had some pretty cool lyrics back in the day.

  • What is up w/ that stage it's so small and the drummer is facing the wall! Zao is cool!

(Know Jesus Know Life, No Jesus Know Hell!)

  • sick man. zao is.

  • oh, i miss the Chapel of The Cross days!

  • AMAZING

  • WHo was the singer at this concert I cant quite tell if its Dan or whoever else might have been in...

Zao's member line-up changed so much so many times

  • It's Dan, the show's from '98.

  • Wow...that was incredible...I'd go apeshit hearing that. Take me back to the primitive days.

  • Wow...I miss real Christian hardcore music like this.

  • Absolutly the best Zao song ever, saw 5 zao shows in the late 90's and ever one rocked!

  • WOW the good ole days and this is coming from a 29 year old female

  • word..i'm 26.. i'm having late 90's nostalgia now

  • Scott Mellinger played bass on (self titled), Brett was only on Blood and Fire. Although Rob Horner is enlisted in s/t's credits.

  • When I see this video, all I can think of is "LOL BRET DETAR!"

  • wow... to think that man started the Juliana Theory..

  • I think someone else started Julianna theory... he was just like their main singer.

  • no Brett pretty much started it i think. like im pretty sure most of the original members signed on at the same time but brett had a pretty big part in it.

and is it just me or does Brett not belong in any hardcore band ever. he is a cool guy and all but he just doesnt seem to fit

  • actually, jessie was the only original member of zao at this point

  • good times.

  • this is zao's best song ever I can't wait for them to come back to Texas.

  • Nope, 1998.

  • didnt where blood and fire bring rest come out in 2000?

  • rob didnt play bass until Liberate

  • which one is brett detar?

  • the guy in the white shirt making funny faces.

  • The best zao song ever, their best cd, their best year, was there no bass-player???

  • Dan played bass for a little while around this time, but gave it up. Marty is their first bass player since, well, probably the first rendition of ZAO.

  • Naw, Brett played bass on "Where Blood..." and Self Titled. A one timer played bass on "Funeral Of God"

  • they didnt even have a bassist on where blood and fire bring rest (thats what its called right?)

or at least im pretty sure they didnt

  • They had a bassist on the album, just not live

  • ha ha i meant 8.

  • holy crap! i was actually AT this show! this is amazing to find this on here from 6 years ago. i remember they played with 238 cause thats where theyre from. awesome. thanks for the memory film person.

  • that is absolutely insane, the good old days, solid state was so good back then...
