This was the version I saw of this song/video when I first visited Thailand back in December 2009, and even though I don't speak Thai and can therefore not understand what is being sung, I always find it moves me deeply.

As someone who writes music myself, I find this a very powerful piece, and if I knew who was responsible for orchestrating this particular version, I'd like to shake that persons hand and congratulate them on a superb job!

Been working in Bangkok for more than 3 years, and every Friday, which happens to be my day off, I always go to the cinema and watch a movie. This song always makes my hair rise. I dont know why but I just cannot get used to this. Maybe because of the dept of the meaning of this song, which unfortunately, I dont bother to understand. But 3 years of living here and I still get the chills everytime I hear this song.

I'm not Thai, but i've lived in Thailand for more than a year now. its not like they're brainwashed, its really their love and compassion for their king. i mean, isnt that great? its sooooo good to know that one country is actually loving their own leader and not wasting their time rallying in the streets carrying posters saying they want their president or king to go down.

But you've gotta admit, a piece of music like this is very cogent and could work to 'sway' people. I actually think this kind of tribute works best on farangs, in that although sung in Thai, the music obviously done in a classical or European style (orchaestral), and for connoisseurs of fine music, this isn't half bad! Especially the chorus at the end.

Gets me all choked up and I'm a bit of a King Bhumibol skeptic - lol! : /
