0:50 was that a skink? I see a skink once in a blue moon here in SC. This series is really great and I wish I could find a nice creek around here to camp out by. Had a blast near Brookgreen this weekend, even though it rained like crazy all night!
@gotrocksinhead We hiked back in the woods for a few hundred yards and set up camp. We got out there later than expected so we couldnt do much else. Camp was a tarp tied to 4 trees,a sheet on the ground ,a dry, rotting log behind our heads, plus another log to sit on.Took a little walk and then came back to roast some hot dogs over the fire before it rained too hard. Spent most of the night trying to stay dry. In the morning we boiled eggs, covered our tracks and left. Lots of fun!
I'll trade you 3 arrowheads made of texas flint for that elk scapula bone. Or if you have a specific number of arrowheads you want, let me know in a PM so we can work out the details. :P BTW this is my favorite video of yours.
@Flintknappingtips Sure. send me a message and we'll work out the details. I should have been more patient and waited till I found a better hammer stone. I probably could have gotten better flakes.. Live and learn. Dan
@thewildview You aint justa kidding man! Tools galore!! I cant believe I have never found that spot before. It goes to show that it pays to be curious. Like you and that owl nest you found. Dan
Another great video Dan! Real nice agate find...looks like you got some real nice flakes to work with and I hope you can get a big enough biface from it to make a good knife or something too. Can't wait to see the finished products, and some video of the work in progress!
@AesculusPavia Thank you, We find some real good knapping stone in the creek. I should have been patient till I could find a better hammerstone. Ah well, live and learn. I hope so too. Thanks for coming along. Dan
Nice vid, Dan. Got rocks in head, got bones in hand. Got bones in head, got rocks in hand :))))) That bone dump is crazy. Ya reckon that's a poacher's dump site (complete with beer can), what with all the different species there? Irregardless, nice raw materials and some sweet flake blades, off that chunk of agate. Thumbs for resource bounty.
@creekdalton I dont think it is a poachers dump. It is a real convenient spot for all the locals to get rid of their carcasses. Hunting is pretty big here and people find it an easy place to ditch the goods... along with their garbage! Great for me! I just cant believe I have never found it before! That agate is some hard stuff!!! Thanks. Dan
Great video. When you found those bones you looked like a kid in a cadaver, whoops, I mean a kid in a candy store. Cute kid being attacked by crazy antler man :).
@inquisitivewolf I never have been accused of being normal... ;P That's my boy... adopted of course. Either that or some genetics surfaced that I had no idea about. He's a real clown! Always cracking me up.
Ha´ cool, Dan the Bonebreaker : ))) ...400 arrow heads and few fishhooks ; ) ...cool music. Great tools! Super flint. Great video, as usual! Happy Day my friends Sepp
Hi Dan, another great video. A would be survivor with a little knowledge could turn all
those bones into many useful tools. I was thinkinf i could use the rib bones for spear heads and arrow tips, and i was very impressed with the nutria teeth and thought maybe a nice collar could be made to attract the primitive ladies out there.
@EDINBURGSTAR Thanks Joe. Unfortunately, I dont think my primitive lady would go for the nutria tooth collar... bummer. All those bones will be so useful! I cant believe I've never seen them before. It goes to show it is good to be curious and poke around a bit. Dan

Oh, a creekside ... no, this is sooo primitive ... and about survival ... spooky: it is "part 7"! ;o)
Well, I have snail cemetery here, but you found rodent cemetery!
Better not trap the skunk or at least don't squeeze it too much.
steintanz 10 months ago
@steintanz maybe the rodents ate the dead snails and died... how morbid.. ;P
