how to build a good city. 1) water pump and pipe early on 2) good health and good education. you can monitor the efficiency in the budget 3) parks in resedential, plazas in industrial and commercial 4) build bus stops 5) connect industry to other towns by railroad and seaport 6) use ferry and railroad for transportation. my best city (i dont use mods) has abut 400,000 people in a medium sized square.

The best option for such big city is to handle the traffic problems with subways.

@gurra1351 depends on how many people you have... subways are nice but you need to have a combo of bus, car lots, subways and toll booths on your avenues to pay for all of that. 1 Big building can hold 10k people, that will overwhelm a subway or bus alone.

@emacdaddyfunk well, my city was on the largest of building tiles and was separated by water into 5 sections. The center had the landmarks and towering businesses and condos. The smallest section was the industry, manufacturing and high tech industry. And the other 3 sections were mostly high wealth and medium wealth residential sections. I tried to combine farming with the city but the demand for more zones was too high so i expanded to other building tiles and made farming communities in them.

Most SC4 masters don't give a rat's ass about creating a massive, ugly city like this one - and we've all gotten past the million mark, just to do it. But once you graduate from that, it's too easy and painful to look at. It becomes about creating a realistic city with elegant structure and cohesiveness and a downtown core that fades gradually into suburbs and farmlands.

@iamihop11 ive built a region that has a domed urban centre (dome mod) with most of the commercial sector, a massive downtown with most of the financial sector(the thing is a money machine on drugs! lol) and im planning a massive project using a superhighway (dont let the name fool you, it looks stunning.) and a massively extensive high speed rail network to the isolated suburbs and industrial centers. im looking at massive growth considering a city that used to be a slum.

@RefreshChannel Sounds awesome! I'm not familiar with the dome mod. I haven't seen it on the Stex or Lex. What is it? I know how impressive a well-designed highway system can be. My personal fav is sunken highways. And sims don't need to be educated or healthy to drive on your brand spankin' new highway system - I say cut the funding, lol :-P Nah, having a booming economy ( =more money for you) takes a big investment in ed and health. Waiting for more funding. i used way to much funding on education, medical and police. the high speed rail is just sitting there abandoned. but the super highway is full speed ahead in construction. big 1.7 million cities are gross. its about transportation and realism.

The biggest city I ever had was 1.7 million on the biggest map tile, I am so proud of making that but it ended up like a real city, poorer district filled with crime and my money couldnt fix it, which was strange because I had 30 million simoleans.

Without cheats mods or anything expanded for the game i only manage to get about 500.000inhabitants on the largest city tile. How do you get triple?

What i never figured about simcity is that star rating under the city name in the region interface. That spawns when you select your city with inhabitant and economic industrial job stats window.

Usually you have like 100+ fancy rating but 1 star only.

What does the star mean? is it a rating? If so why is it always 1?
